Travis and I drove about an hour over to Torreya State Park early this morning to scout the trails for long run potential for the team. They have a figure 8 that makes up a total of about 14 miles. We ran the hilliest section of one of the loops up and down from the Gregory House which overlooks the Apalachicola River. Garmin tells me it was down 294 feet and up 302 feet over the 2.5 miles - thats a pretty serious elevation swing for Florida boys. We then walked quite a bit of the remainder of the trails - definitely runnable, but some really steep sections, and lots of downed trees. It was a nice workout for the old man, and Travis was polite and said he was feeling it too - even after just the 2.5 miles. |
