Just admiring your paces this week - you don't slog around much!

Seems like you're bouncing back nicely from providence.

Thanks Joe.... Just like you, this has been my best post marathon recovery.

I do think that I need to vary my pace more and get some good even tempo & speed work in. I've always just gone out and run whatever. Maybe a more structured program could drop my time more significantly?

Probably, depending on what the focus is. I made my biggest drop in the marathon (3:16 to 3:01) by following a Pfitzinger plan from his book Advanced Marathoning. Your 5k time is great, so I think you could go way faster in the marathon with an increase in mileage and some long tempos, if you wanted to focus on that. Marathoning season is definitely dead and over down here now; not sure about MA, but breaking up the year into chunks where you train for different events has helped me in the past, when I can actually stick to a plan...easier said than done!

Thanks for the advice Joe! I actually have the book, but I haven't followed it as of yet. There is a fall marathon in MA that I may be targeting.... we'll see. Looking forward to you breaking the 18 barrier!
