Personal:

Der Hammer is a nick name I picked up from my German friends while living in Germany. My real name is David.

I have been running seriously since March 2007.  I started with a local running group called "Gilbert's Gazelles".  Before that I had run a couple 5k's (26:00's) and never run more than 3 miles at one time.  I have lost about 40 pounds in a little over 2 years.

I am 45 years old, married and have 2 children, ages 5, girl, and 10, boy.  I try to keep my running from interfering with my family as much as possible, e.g. getting up at 5 am.  However, Saturdays are long run days and I don't come home until around 9 am or so.  I owe my family a debt of gratitude for allowing me to pursue this passion.

Wow - just heard that the Dallas Marathon for tomorrow is cancelled!!  No refund!  Ouch.

Ran with a Dan, Kevin and Pat - Mt. Bonnel route again.  Pretty easy pace but that's OK.  Did pick it up on the last 2 though.  24 degrees and windy - I was fine with some layering but it was chilly for the first 5 miles.

I guess they had no choice but that is a bad result. There must be commercial insurance available to cover something like that, instead of putting it all on the runners.

That's a bummer the runners had to still foot the bill. Can't say I'd be real pumped about that.

When it gets cold the wind sure cuts through whatever you're wearing. Way to get 'er done.

Pretty conservative call on their part, sucks for the runners. They kept OKC going through a thunderstorm one year!

Nice run, love that Mt Bonnel...

I saw that the Cowtown marathon is trying to capitalize on the cancellation of Dallas and offering a registration discount.

I was at OKC and ran through the thunderstorms! :-)
