Ran 5 miles and everything felt good. I felt like going a lot farther but resisted the urge. There have been a couple of other times that I have felt great the week after a marathon and jumped back into regular training too quickly only to wind up with an injury. 8:15 AP.

We left last night and traveled down to southern Utah into the Escalante Grand staircase National Monument to spend the weekend and do some hiking and see some sights. We camped at the Calf Creek Falls campground. I did a short run from camp int the afternoon down the highway. I was planning to go about 6 miles but 1 1/2 miles out the road got very steep and I was worried about the pounding of too much steep downhill so soon after the marathon so I turned back after 2 miles. I thought about adding a couple more miles but just ran back to camp to make it an even 4.   8:30 AP We also did some hikes in the petrified forest.

I took off before breakfast and ran from camp up the calf creek falls trail [6 miles round trip] up to the falls. The trail was a bit of a challenge with sandy sections, some rocky sections, some of it on slickrock with short steep ups and downs that are basically like climbing steps. It was a gorgeous morning and such beautiful country. It's a very popular trail but I got on it early enough that I finished without seeing a soul. I pushed pretty hard on the way back to get below 9 minute pace and finished with 8:46 overall AP which I felt was pretty good considering the terrain. After breakfast I hiked it again with my Wife and son, my parents, and my brother and his family. Its a very nice hike and neat spot.
