Ran 30 miles on my 30th birthday (Feb 7 2010)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 3 hours in the marathon

Run a trail ultra

Find a way to run high mileage without injuring myself. My current theory is that transitioning out of my super-cushioned shoes into more minimalist shoes or bare feet will help improve my form and make this possible.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a 100 mile race.

Personal:

I am happily married to Jenni. We have three energetic little boys who also enjoy to run. Jenni and I are both going to try learning how to run without shoes this year.

Today was truly a stellar running day. I wanted to go do some distance on trails, but decided it would be unwise to head off too far into the woods by myself. So I did 1 hour on a rolling single track that was BEAUTIFUL! Then I headed down into town and ran on the roads for two more hours where I had cell phone reception in case anything went wrong. By this point I was feeling like my feet needed liberating, so I ran back to my car and ditched the shoes. I ran for another hour barefoot on the sidewalks around town and loved every minute of it. I'm not sure exactly how many miles I did, but it was four solid hours of running, and it felt great.

How do your legs survive that kind of spontaneous distance?

tamy - actually I am a much more consistent runner than blogger. I have been putting in the miles, just not writing them down. Maybe one day...

No 50 mile race report? You gotta at least get that post up.

I did a write-up at: http://dancurrit.wordpress.com/2010/09/19/hello-world/

Check it out. But not now. Focus on winning a marathon first.
