Ran 30 miles on my 30th birthday (Feb 7 2010)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 3 hours in the marathon

Run a trail ultra

Find a way to run high mileage without injuring myself. My current theory is that transitioning out of my super-cushioned shoes into more minimalist shoes or bare feet will help improve my form and make this possible.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a 100 mile race.

Personal:

I am happily married to Jenni. We have three energetic little boys who also enjoy to run. Jenni and I are both going to try learning how to run without shoes this year.

I've been very slacker about blogging for a long time now, but I have indeed been running. And mostly in my VFFs to boot. In fact, I'm falling in love with them all over again and considering doing my next marathon in them.

Today's pace run was done slightly faster than my marathon pace, because it felt good: 5 miles in 32 minutes, 6:24 average pace. Ahh... I like going fast in the VFF.

WELCOME BACK! I thought you might have just quit running since you already ran 30 miles, I mean, what else is there anyway right?

That's a solid pace amigo...way to go. Sounds like you're getting in some good shape. Glad you're liking the VFF's and getting your mileage up in them. What did you think of the huarache idea? Here's the link to get a kit, they are actually only 20 bucks. I bet you could kick some tail in your next marathon in those babies and even bypass the bloody arch syndrome...all for 20 BUCKS!:

so what's the latest, did you try the huarache's? I'm curious to hear how your training is going...your marathon is in June right?

Hey hermano! The training is going awesome. I haven't tried the huarache's yet. My VFFs only rub on my really long runs, and for those I wear my injinji socks. It's a little tight, but I don't get any blisters. I was in Utah last week for Tommy's wedding, and ran an 18 mile run with about 9 of the miles on the Bonneville shoreline trail. It felt great! So yeah, I'm plowing forward to run the marathon June 26th in my VFFs. And I'm still thinking about your 50 mile run offer. Are you still on board?

Nice job on the BST, that's a super fun/hilly trail. I ran it in the snow over Christmas with jun and Scott on the blog. That's cool that the socks are working to prevent the issue.

I'm definitely still on board with the 50 miler and with getting you out here for it, that would be sweet if you could come out.

Jentry Miskin is coming out with a couple other people to do the Golden Gate 50K with me in a couple weeks, It's going to be a blast. I have no idea how I will hold up over 30 miles, I may be walking a bunch since the longest trail runs I've done is about 18 so far a couple weeks ago. Plus I stubbed my foot pretty hard on saturday and while I don't think its broken, It's still kind of sore.
