Ran 30 miles on my 30th birthday (Feb 7 2010)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 3 hours in the marathon

Run a trail ultra

Find a way to run high mileage without injuring myself. My current theory is that transitioning out of my super-cushioned shoes into more minimalist shoes or bare feet will help improve my form and make this possible.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a 100 mile race.

Personal:

I am happily married to Jenni. We have three energetic little boys who also enjoy to run. Jenni and I are both going to try learning how to run without shoes this year.

5 easy miles during lunch in my five fingers! This was the first run in a while in them, as I have been letting my ankle rest. It was still a little tender after the run, so I don't think I'll do much more in the VFFs until after this weekend. It was really refreshing to be running in them, and I realized that I really missed it. It somehow feels much more awesome to run in them.

Its mysterious and magical how feels so much more awesome. I hear you man.

What size of new balance 790's did you get? I'm thinking of donating mine since their a little tight on me, so if 11D fits you you may be in luck.

I'm kind of itching to get out and run. I've been cycling and really enjoying it yesterday and today, but I'm still on a high from running fast in the fives on friday and feeling fantastic. (that was totally unintentional alliteration by the way, but I'll take credit for it)

My 790s are 9 1/2, so I don't think I can accept your donation. Do you think you'll try another pair of shoes, or stick with the fantastic five fingers for future freedom for your feet?

I don't know...I'm guessing I will at some point. I'm considering the NB 100's because they are $50 right now online at fleet foot. But I'm going to try them on again at the store first to make sure, I think those too area bit narrow for me. Plus I'm still hesitant because I really want a completely flat soled shoe. Really the only reason I care about shoes is for gnarly trail running, so I may just drop the cash on some VFF treks because I think those will give me plenty of sole protection.
