Ran 30 miles on my 30th birthday (Feb 7 2010)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 3 hours in the marathon

Run a trail ultra

Find a way to run high mileage without injuring myself. My current theory is that transitioning out of my super-cushioned shoes into more minimalist shoes or bare feet will help improve my form and make this possible.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a 100 mile race.

Personal:

I am happily married to Jenni. We have three energetic little boys who also enjoy to run. Jenni and I are both going to try learning how to run without shoes this year.

Beautiful 58 degree day on the waterfront. The only downside is that I wore my Saucony cushioned shoes to allow my sore ankle to "rest", and I ended up with a sore knee. I have come to the conclusion that it's just about impossible to run with correct form in a super cushioned shoe. I try to maintain the form I've developed with my barefooting, but I end up reverting to poor form because of the thick heel. I bought some injinji socks today on the way home from work, so hopefully that solves my blister issues so I can get back to good form

Dang shoes! What happened to your ankle?

I've got a slight problem with my inner ankle bone from something that happened last saturday.

I hope the socks do the trick with your FF's

I tweaked my the outer part of my left ankle on last Saturday's run. My theory is that the blisters caused by my ffs caused me to change my form up and this led to a tweaked ankle. I also hope the socks help. I think they will. I agree with you that my ffs are maybe a little tight. The main problem though is that my toes are huge. They would max out the toe pockets no matter what the length of the ffs, and I feel like the length of mine is ok.

Wish me luck as I try a long run today in my New Balance 790's!
