Medium Workout Day -

I was tired of running in traffic and didn't feel like 1.5 hours of running on city roads so I drove up to Blacksmith Fork Canyon (mile 14 of TOU) and headed up the canyon.  For the first time EVER, there was no wind up or down.  Weird.  I was able to hit a pretty fast warmup going up the canyon staying under 7 min pace.  I did 5 warmup then did 10 x 3 min hard, 1 min easy.  Goal pace was half marathon pace (5:50) to get a better feel of it.  I forgot how much it hurts to run fast (my memory is lacking).  Other than some stomach issues again today, the run went pretty well.  I was working pretty hard though and doubt that I can hold the goal pace for the whole half marathon distance.  Bring on race day magic!

Pace for the hard intervals

  1. 5:55 (up hill)
  2. 6:03 (slightly steeper uphill)
  3. 5:45 (now the rest are down the canyon)
  4. 5:48
  5. 5:45
  6. 5:46
  7. 5:45
  8. 5:54
  9. 5:44
  10. 5:38

Finished with 1.5 mile cool-down to the car

T-1:25:20 (6:33) (164 ave) (low 170's for the intervals)

Burn Red-Blue Miles: 13.00

Sorry I couldn't join you. I had been looking forward to a good workout. Instead I am finally leaving just now to go get 4-6 miles, just so I can say I ran today...

Nice. When is the next race?

geez, you eat cookies and potato chips for a couple weeks and look what happens to your mileage lead.

OK- I hope to get running again soon. But still a bit sore and I am waiting for that tender spot to go away a bit more.. just to be careful.

Burt - Striders 1/2 on April 4th. See you there???

rr - I am glad you took the pressure off for me. Now I can slack during the summer and hold my lead. Make sure you don't over do it too soon. Pretend you are a newbie for a couple of weeks. Nice and easy...

Paul and I both passed the rooster for the year, too. By less than 2 miles.

Sweet! Way to rub salt in the wound!
