Brisk 10 miles on Young Ward via ICON out and back course.  The foot was about the same as yesterday.  Decided to test my recovery and run the last mile fast.  5:53

foot? or just the toe? be careful.. Thanks for the heads up on running a half in light shoes, I will run SLC 1/2 in cushioned trainers! What can I expect to do in that race on April 18, realistically, with the down time I had? I was running 60 a week before my three or so weeks of down time... does that still count??

It is a bruise on the ball of the foot, under the middle toe knuckle. I get them frequently when I wear old shoes, or shoes that lack cushioning. Usually a few days later it improves. I just try and not make it worse during that time.

As for what to expect for the half, I would say that you lost a bit over that break, but you can get ti back in time to make it a wash. I would guess you could still run 1:25 but that doesn't take into account the weather. Just run by feel and go for it.

sounds painful.. but fortunately just a flesh wound, right!

I would like to run 1:25. I will go out at about 6:30 on the first mile or two and see what happens. Or maybe just run with my old mission buddy who gets me the free entry from his work, he will probably run about the same pace anyway. Last year was bad- incredible wind- felt sorry for the marathoners like Adam- who smoked it. cool race entry. fun to read those.

Be smart, but use the downhills to your advantage. Run fast when you can run fast. Its still too soon to be stressing anyway. That is what the night before is for.

OK, I will try not to embarrass you and the blog. I would hate to have my name taken off your favorites list. Jon keeps threatening to take me off unless I buy him bagels :-) So if you guys show up for Smithfield I will bring the bagels!!

That race is a week after my big marathon, so I will not be running that week....or month maybe. You can drop off the bagels at my house anytime...
