You're a lone faithful, apparently. So I shall mock you for being sore. Though it is a jealous mocking, since you whupped all of us.

From cody on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 17:28:49

it is embarrassing that I am sore from a 5K...

From Jon on Tue, Feb 10, 2009 at 00:05:27

But remember- it is a 5k that feels like a 10k.

I like the title change....I just noticed it.

I wonder if I could have taken the 45-49 age group in that striders race- I think I could- but I guess we will never know now since I went skiing instead.

Scott-

Come to the 10K and show us what you are made of...

From redrooster on Tue, Feb 10, 2009 at 16:24:17

that's easy.. I am pretty much all talk!

Haven't been doing any real speed work lately at Paul's advice as I train for Ogden, so I doubt I could put in a great 10K right now- but let me know when it is and I might give it a shot.

Its a week from this coming saturday

You don't need to do speed work for these races, the point of them is to get you in shape for Ogden. They do that. I highly recommend the series to anyone running Ogden. Especially the 1/2 and 30K as they are run on the actual marathon course.

From redrooster on Tue, Feb 10, 2009 at 16:58:30

ok, let me see what I can do. I got a free entry to the SLC 1/2 which is the same day as the 30K (April 18) so can't do that one. How do you deal with your long runs to accomodate these races? run them on a different day or the same day? I need to make sure I get in my long runs as that is my big weakness- long haul endurance.... (I crapped out in Boston on HB Hill, but it was the year of the big northeasterner too which knocked me down with the wind and cold) which is why I am trying to build my mileage base early this time. That Paul guy tells me to anyway, if we can trust him... are you doing Ogden?

From cody on Tue, Feb 10, 2009 at 17:58:30

The only day that you will have a problem getting in the long run is for the 10K. I usually do a 3 mile warmup, race, then do more miles right after to get in the mileage for the day. That should be fine. The 10 miler and half are long enough that with warmup/cooldown, you are perfect.

Paul is correct. If he tells you jump you respond with "how high?"

I am not doing Ogden this year. Tired of it. Moving on to a different scene (if everything works out well). I am planning on the Colorado Marathon.
