AM: Today was a mixture of cross-training and running....actually closer to jogging.  I did 1/2 mile walking at 4mph then a mile running in 8:45 followed by 7:30 on the elliptical.  After that, it was back on the treadmill for another mile in 8:35 and back to the elliptical for another 7:30.  I ran out of time for a whole half mile cooldown so I did a quartermile and stretched and iced.  Leg felt good again today.  My hamstring is still somewhat sore and tight on occasion so I need to figure that one out as that could cause undue stress on the ITB.  I am counting the 15 min on elliptical as a mile.  That is my new rule.  15 min for a mile for cross-training.  Walking doesn't count.

Your doing great Cody. The way your being very careful in coming back from your injury is going to really benefit you later on. Nice work today. Your in my prayers.

From Jon on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 14:23:37

Cross-training + running + jogging = crunging!

From cody on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 14:47:04

Thanks Kory

Jon: Nice, however

Jogging + Elliptical = Jogical!

You guys could write a book.. Rehab Running.

Hang in there Cody, nice to see you coming back.

From josse on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 15:18:45

Man I know how frusterating it is having injuies, expecally after such a stellar year. Hang in there you'll be back. That is quite the racing schedule you have their.

From Bethany on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 15:42:14

Wow, somehow I had blocked out your racing schedule, subconsciously of course. Im rooting for ya.

From Cody on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 16:36:57

This is a tentative race list. Things change. The Striders series is pretty low priority and will be adjusted to how my recover/training is going. But, I like to put the list down to start planning.

From Jon on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 16:56:22

Hmm, not enough races, me thinks...

So since you aren't doing the Striders 10k, does that mean you can't compete with me for the age group in the series?

From Jon on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 16:59:14

Why do the Smithfield health days so close to the marathon? And you aren't doing the Logan Peak Run again?

From Cody on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 17:01:15

Man, I would've had you beat. Yeah, that means you might squeak into third place like I did last year. I didn't know you were planning on running those races. I may have to revise my schedule...

From Cody on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 17:03:54

Smithfield HD's is a perfect tune-up for a marathon. All you have to do is beat is a few HS kids ands then coast into the finish. No big deal recovering from a 5K while tapering.

From Jon on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 17:15:43

No, you should do the 10k all out. That would increase my chances of beating you at the marathon. In fact, maybe we can find you a 1/2 marathon race that day.

From Stacy on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 20:10:07

Hey, can I count 15 minutes on the elliptical as a mile, too? I don't know. I kind of feel like I'm cheating on the elliptical because it's so much easier than running.

From Casey on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 23:12:43

Okay, I want to play too!

My running:

Jogging + shuffling = juffling

P.S. I'll run Draper Days with you next year.

From Cody on Thu, Dec 06, 2007 at 10:37:22

Stacy- You can count it any way you want. Many people count cross-training as running miles. It all depends on the effort. If I were you, I would count 15 mins on the elliptical as a mile running and it would not be cheating.

Casey- See you there, but only if you join the blog first...
