Hang in there Cody... the rest is what you need. Sometimes I think taking a week off would do me good. It will provide you with fresh legs. Your going to come back stronger than before.
Yeah hang in there. By the way, you can buy Rec Center passes on a monthly or even daily basis. That could help you cross-train without a long gym commitment.
I was going to tell you to ask Josse what she though would assist you with your injury and then I saw that she already left a comment about it. I still think it has the do with your butt muscles being too tight, your hip flexors might have something to do with it too.
On the bright side, you could obviously use the rest and I am sure that you won't lose much if any fitness for taking a good week off and doing some cross training. We all need to rest and often we don't let ourselfs do it. I worry about some runners who up their miles in the winter after St. George and end up injured in the spring. Rest is good! Get some rest, and then you can get back to starting a new training cycle for winter. Just don't go crazy while you can't run, enjoy yourself!
Cody, it seems from the comments, IT band? Does your knee hurt, outside hip area? I have a good excercise if it is the IT band at the top on the outside of the hip. If by the hip, Dixie cup ice 3 times a day until the ice fully melts. Also, have stretching exercise if by the hip.
Hope to see you at ths stiders series if I can convince Sylvia.
