The  long run that almost didn't happen.

7:44 pm, 78-53° F, 10-49% humidity, wind 16 NNW.

I couldn't run this morning because I had to take my MIL to the first part of the graduation for the high school that my husband teaches at so that she could hear the mariachi band that my husband directs. We had to leave at 8:00 in the morning and there was no way I was going to get 17 miles done before then. After we got home, it was too hot and windy and it was hot and windy all day. I almost didn't make it out, but I finally went out a little while after dinner. I tried to give my body a chance to digest dinner before I headed out, but I felt a little uncomfortable during the run anyway.

I felt like staying close to home, so I did a1.3 mile loop around my neighborhood. It was going to take a little over 13 loops to get 17 miles. I did 5 loops and then stopped at home for a pit stop and some water. I also picked up my head lamp at that point. My third son had joined me on his bike for the fourth loop. Then I did 5 more loops and stopped at home again for a pit stop and water again. But then instead of doing three more loops, I did my four mile loop once.

This was a really tough run for me. I almost blew it off, but I decided I shouldn't blow off my last long run before the marathon.

wow...you are SO dedicated Carolyn! You're going to do great at the race - you've put in more than exceptional effort for the training!! Nice work on the pace and doing the laps, I'm sure you felt like I have lately on my .2 mile loops - nearly dizzy and tired of 'counting' to get the miles in. Well, I guess you'd have your Garmin to 'count' for you, but still...loops like that make for long(er) runs for me!

Great job getting out there Carolyn. Running after dinner is no easy feat, I am sure (I would never even try it). I hope the graduation celebrations went well this weekend!

Wow! That's all I can say.

Wow! I'll say more, though. Very dedicated; five laps of anything is too much (unless its a track:)). Now it is in the bag!

Wow that is some ridiculous laps! I would of had to of made the laps longer. My bro and I tried that and I decided I'm not a lap person. Our laps were 6 miles long and I hated seeing the same thing over and over. Great job!

Impressive dedication to go out that late. The wind was so strong on Saturday I didn't want to try running in it. Good job with your last long run!

Glad you got it in! It sounds like a tedious run, but you are so much better for getting those miles in!

Getting out and running after eating is always hard. And running 1.3 mile loops over and over would be enough to give anyone indigestion.

Nice workout!
