Recovery run + core conditioning.

6:30 am, 30°F, 36% humidity, wind 2 S, sunshine.

My kids don't have school today (it's a teacher work day) so I didn't have to drive anyone anywhere or get home before kids left for school. So I slept in a bit and ran in the sunshine.

Yesterday about half-way through my run, I caught my left toe on some jagged pavement and started to go down, but then managed to take a step with my right foot and didn't fall. However, that step with my right foot was pretty awkward and hard and I've had just a little tightness in my right glut since then. It's still tight this morning, but it's not too bad.

I'm liking these short run recovery days. I think that maybe they do more for me psychologically than they do physically.

AP: 10:03. Splits: 10:17, 9:56, 9:50, 10:02, 10:12 (the last two miles were in VFFs).

I didn't think about the psychological benefits of the short run. My plan calls for 4 mile recovery days, and I've been extending it a little because that just feels too short...but I should probably just do it, I guess.

Hope the tightness goes away!

I'm not going to lie, I value those moments when I get awkward tight muscles. It's the few times I have a good excuse to ask my wife for a massage. On the other hand, she gets a massage of one sort or another (usually a head massage, she loves those) almost nightly. I've never quite understood how it works out that way.

Glad it was a short recovery run with that pain in your butt :)

I hope it goes away and doesn't linger!!

You put the "very" in recovery.

Yeah, we definitely need a regular mental break from running. Sometimes I really appreciate cross training for no other reason than its just NOT running.

Take care of that glut. Don't want a little tightness to turn into something more.

I think the recovery run days make your appreciate the hard days more. Do you have one of those foam roller things for the glut? I love those things.

Yes, I have a foam roller. I should use it.
