Recovery run.

6:23 am, 55° F, 71% humidity, wind 16 S.

I felt pretty good on this run. I just tried to keep it slow and easy.

Before my run this morning I checked the weather here in Denver and in Newport, Oregon. It looks like it's raining in Newport today. I hope it doesn't rain on Saturday.

I'm debating which shoes to wear in the marathon. I've been alternating between my Brooks Green Silence, which are my cool Ronald McDonald racing flats, and the Brooks Adrenaline 10s. I always wear the Adrenalines on longer runs, but I really like the Green Silence. I've just never worn them for more than about half marathon distance. I'd like to wear them in the marathon, but I don't know if I dare.

AP: 10:00. Splits: 10:34, 9:58, 9:46, 9:50, 9:51.

Nice recovery run & tapering. I hope the weather is nice for you in Newport too!

I'd go with the Adrenalines since you know they'll pull you through. But honestly, you'll rock the run no matter what you wear. So maybe just wear the shoes that are fastest :-)

Yea - taper must be working! I'd go with the Adrenalines since those are what you are used to on long runs. They also might be better for your feet because you will be running faster than you normally do on your long runs (faster = more pounding). But I think you will do great regardless of shoe choice!

No advise on the shoe choice... I'm sure you will do fine no matter what shoes you decide to wear. Enjoy your taper and I can't wait to hear about the race!

I'm not going to disagree with either comment above, however, I will say that if the Green Silence shoes aren't hurting your feet after 13 miles and you still feel fresh that you could probably wear them and be fine. But if you've had any discomfort or tiredness in your feet from wearing those shoes past 10 miles I wouldn't risk it. Good luck this weekend.

AP - 10:00! i love when things are perfectly even like that. it makes me giddy. i'm not a big fan of odd numbers :)

From Snoqualmie on Wed, Jun 02, 2010 at 10:41:47 from 24.18.192.33

I'd go with the Adrenalines because I always try to play it safe with shoes. Risk on long runs, have a sure thing on race day - that's my strategy. If you love the way the others feel you might be ok though.

I'm pretty sure we're going to get wet, but at 59F that sounds very welcome to me. What we don't want is that wind. I am hoping it moves through on Friday and we have the gentle light rain, or just occasional showers. Cliff Mass has a really scary satellite photo on his blog today - glad we're not racing Friday!!!

From auntieem on Wed, Jun 02, 2010 at 11:02:51 from 24.18.77.246

Probably will be a wet race; just better hope for no wind. How about BOTH shoes and a shoe changing station midway to ditch the wet shoes?

Good luck in the marathon on Saturday!

what do you like about the other ones that makes you want to run in them for the full marathon? I wouldn't want to risk it..I would be scared!
