Medium-long run.

5:14 am, 35°F, 89% humidity, wind 7 EHE, overcast, with a few sprinkles during the last mile or so.

Running 12 miles just sounded too hard. So instead I just ran my 4 mile loop 3 times. That sounded easier. That's how I tricked myself into getting this run done. Also, this 4 mile loop, while definitely not flat, is more of a series of shorter ups and downs instead of big long up or down stretches like I get when I go on my longer routes.

I had to run early today because I have meetings all morning at work and I don't want to wait until the afternoon to run.

I feel encouraged that I was able to go a little faster than my recovery pace, but I still went pretty slowly. I didn't want to push too hard because I'm trying to save something for Saturday's MP run. Incidentally, tomorrow is the only day all week that I have less than 10 miles on my schedule. I'm looking forward to that.

My oldest son drove son #2 to seminary since I wouldn't be home in time. When I passed the house at the end of the 2nd loop, I saw that the garage was open and the car was gone, so I knew they had gone to seminary. My son is not very good about closing the garage. However, when I got home from the 3rd loop the garage was closed, so he did close it when he got back home. I think there might be only a week of seminary left this school year, or maybe there's two. I'm not sure. Seminary finishes up for the year before school does.

Good progressive times on your run. Your miles are huge for the week, and it's only Thursday.

I'm glad you had less wind to fight this morning than last night. It was still pretty cold for you though :-(

We'll have seminary up until the last week of school, so we've still got over a month left. I know your son will look forward to sleeping in!

I remember having to play tricks like that to wrap my brain around a run that I didn't want to do. Sometimes running a shorter loop more times doesn't sound so intimidating.

Nice run and pace, you are doing awesome on this training schedule!

I'm the same way--it seems more palatable to run loops. Then you only have to concentrate on the run a chunk at a time.

Good run! You're going to do great on your long MP run Saturday!

Three four mile loops sounded easier. Haha!

Hey, I challenged you to a game of Word Twist on FB. I play it with bloggers Schimelle and Julie all the time. At the time I challenged you I thought I'd remembered seeing your name on my ladder, but you're on my Scramble ladder. So, feel free to play. :)

Nice job tricking yourself into running a good pace for 12 miles! You are incredible with your dedication!

Burt, I rarely spend time on FB, so I'll have to log on and check it out when I get a chance.

Thanks for the comment on my run, Carolyn. I admire that you can do loops and still stay motivated to continue. I have to stay away from loops, especially if it means running past my house. It is just too easy for me to find some excuse to stop before the loops are finished!

Your times look really good!

From Nan on Thu, Apr 29, 2010 at 15:03:43 from 174.51.250.151

Good job with the loops. I'm with Meggen, loops don't jive with me. 12 miles actually sounds easier to me than 4 mile loop 3 times. Weird.

I'm glad you didn't get blasted with snow the whole time. It was coming down pretty hard here.

From auntieem on Thu, Apr 29, 2010 at 16:17:38 from 24.18.77.246

Yeah, loops are tough mentally. Don't know why, since tracks are loops and they aren't tough mentally.

Good luck on Saturday's run!

Incredible the mileage your putting in lately. Enjoy the relatively light day tomorrow.

It's nice that one of your kids can help out with some of the driving duties.
