Long run.

I fully intended to get up and run early this morning. But I was on my feet a lot last night ushering at my husband's orchestra concert (I do that in order to get a discount on the tuition for the youth orchestras that my boys are in). Then I got roped into going to the after-concert party, so I was up late last night. And then a family member woke me up in the middle of the night for a while because that family member was having a rough time. So I didn't manage to get up early this morning. When I did finally get up, I spent a couple of hours doing some more house cleaning.

After all this, I wasn't exactly full of energy when I headed out the door to run this morning. For this reason, I decided to do multiple neighborhood loops instead of driving to the trail. This saves some time and staying closer to home is less stressful. I was going to do a 5-mile loop five times, but when I got to the point where the five-mile loop departs from the 4-mile loop, I changed my mind because to turn it into the five-mile loop I would have to cross a busy street twice and that would just waste time waiting at lights. So I did the four-mile loop five times instead. I stopped at home for a pit stop and took a gel after the 2nd loop and after the 4th loop.

I tried to push the pace a little on the last mile. I'm glad to be done with this run. This means that I have finished the third mesocycle without missing a workout. The fourth mesocycle is much easier.

I've been thinking today about those bloggers who are running in Ogden. I hope you're all having a great day.

Really great run today. Your miles this week are huge. Great job. I hope you can find the time to rest this weekend.

Great long one! Especially considering the night you had. Whew! It's good to hear the 4th mesocycle is easier.

Where's your race report, JD?

From JD on Sat, May 15, 2010 at 17:43:55 from 166.128.78.114

There it is. Am I ever going to catch you?

From Tracy on Sat, May 15, 2010 at 18:07:56 from 173.23.75.96

Oh Carolyn! I'm so happy that you're done with this mesocycle! You've done an impressive job thus far, and I guess it's all downhill for you until the big race! You really plugged away on those miles! Nice job!

From auntieem on Sat, May 15, 2010 at 20:43:07 from 24.18.77.246

Very nice, Carolyn! You are now on your way to Newport and marathon victory! Soo sooo sorry I don't get to be there to meet you and run the race myself. Next Time!

Nice work as always Carolyn! As I ran past where I met you on the path today, I thought about you too! Kind of missed you a little....

Up late and woke up in the middle of the night and then still ran 20? Wow!

From Snoqualmie on Sun, May 16, 2010 at 13:00:40 from 24.18.192.33

Well done, to run those big miles under non-ideal conditions! Speedy final mile too. I hope you have a restful Sunday after such a busy time.

From Kelli on Sun, May 16, 2010 at 13:27:23 from 71.219.75.178

WOW, super crazy night before a long run. I would have hit the snooze button! But you are so good to get up and talk, I fear I would have sent that person back to bed!

Way to crank out a nice long run with a speedy mile too finish!

From Toby on Sun, May 16, 2010 at 22:12:59 from 216.194.124.36

YOU are a ROCK STAR for doing 20 alone! I think I might have gone nutty!
