I got home yesterday afternoon to a bunch of boys who seemed to think that I should make dinner for them. I managed to do that, but not much else. I was tired.

When I woke up this morning I was a little disoriented and had to stop and think where I was, what day it was, and what I have to do today.

I slept in until just before 7:00 this morning and then got up and walked a little over 2 miles. It was quite warm out - 60° and 94% humidity. I don't know how people walk marathons. It just takes so long to get anywhere walking.

I was still fairly sore yesterday and I'm still feeling it today, though not as bad. It's strange to me that my quads are so sore. I don't remember my quads feeling like this after Ogden last year. I thought it was downhill running that trashed your quads, and Ogden had WAY more downhill that Newport. Maybe it was "sprinting" the last bit downhill at Newport that did it.

I'll probably walk again tomorrow and then maybe try a little running on Wednesday or Thursday.

Yeah. I'm not a big fan of walking either.

And sounds like the boys in your life need to start training for a marathon. Then they might be a little more sympathetic to their poor ma/wife.

Take it easy! Funny about your quads; maybe it was the long drive? Did you drive? You are an awesome mom for making the boys dinner!

Great job Carolyn! Just take it easy for a week or two now.

Auntie, we drove between 2.5 and 3 hours to Portland, sat around in the airport, flew 2.5 hours to Denver, drove about 45 minutes home.

Welcome back! I totally forgot about the race, I will have to go check it right now.

Carolyn,

It sounds like your body is recovering nicely. Maybe your quads are sore from the lighthouse after the marathon? I can't quit thinking about how impossible that would have been for me.

Walking is slow, but don't hurry back to running too soon. Remember...you need to take it easy and give yourself a real break. Let all those little muscle tears heal.
