Easy run.

7:39 am, 66° F, 69% humidity, wind 2 NNW, sunny. It felt hot and muggy to me.

I slept in until 7:00 this morning, and then I was ready to go out and run by 7:15, but by that time other family members were awake and I got sucked into doing things for them and so I had to postpone my run.

I ran the same route I ran yesterday (nearly), but in reverse. I was going to run 3 miles, but I was still a little ways from home when I hit 3 miles, so I decided to continue running until I got to my house, but when I was almost to my house I noticed that I was about 15-20 seconds short of 30 minutes, so I decided to keep running until I hit 30 minutes, which took me about 3 house-lengths beyond my house. I decided to be comfortable with a total distance that involves a decimal point.

One of the things I had to do before my run this morning was drive my oldest son to work. When I went out to get in the car, I found a garter snake in the garage. I had my son remove it to somewhere in the yard.

AP: 9:33. Splits: 10:04, 9:30, 9:12, 0.14 @ 8:45.

ummmmm... you mean remove it and kill it, right?

i am okay with decimals in my running totals, just not "odd" numbers. everything has to end in a .5 or .0 for me. so, i would be okay with 3.10 or 3.15 miles but not 3.14. ick! that makes me cringe. i'm weird.

Admit it, Carolyn, you were aiming at a total distance of pi...

(and garter snakes are good to have around the house - pest control)

From Smooth on Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 11:02:39 from 174.23.172.155

NICE recovery runs yesterday and today. Summer is in full swing when you see pests, snakes, not to mention children home needing you.

I am OCD on the numbers too...yep just like KP...have to round it off. With that said, my Ogden's distance messed it up. Hmmm, may be UVM will even it out! :)

no, nevels... that is what a cat is for :)

Strange how our families continue to suck us into doing stuff for them.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 11:13:13 from 24.8.167.243

He didn't kill the snake. I don't have a cat, so I would be happy if the snake would perform some pest control, as long as it stays out of the house.

The pi is just a happy accident, Nevels. I should point it out to my 3rd son. He loves pi and has it memorized to 50 decimal places, or something like that.

My favorite is coconut cream pi.

How are your legs feeling Carolyn? I still haven't gotten a run in but my legs feel pretty good now.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 14:22:18 from 198.241.217.15

I don't have any pain in my legs. I feel just a little sluggish, not quite full energy.

From Bonnie on Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 20:36:03 from 128.196.228.134

yikes ... good thing your son is into the snake removal thing. Did he think it was fun?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 20:42:26 from 198.241.217.15

He didn't complain. He was very non-chalant about it. I just asked him if it was alive and he said, "yes."

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 21:58:04 from 71.219.93.114

OH---I hope the snake does not return to the comfort of your garage!!!

Nice job on the run, and the being a mom---both important!

I am proud of you for that .14---my OCD can never handle it. NEVER! I try, I fail.

From Toby on Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 22:18:20 from 216.194.124.36

We have a small retaining rock wall in our backyard and snakes LOVE to live in between the rocks. Creepies.....yuck! I don't care if they are harmless, they creep me out!

What is your next race coming up?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Fri, Jun 11, 2010 at 00:38:59 from 24.8.167.243

Maybe the Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon in August. I've done it the past two years.

Interesting chain of mental decisions on your run that ended with pi. I'm glad you can embrace uneven numbers. I usually just round to the nearest half mile because I figure the Garmin isn't 100% accurate anyway and I'm not interested in running past my house for that extra .07 although sometimes I do run the little half circle by my house if I want an extra .3, so I guess I am mildly OCD.

Your son was so cool about the snake. Gotta love boys.

From Nan on Fri, Jun 11, 2010 at 16:01:32 from 174.51.250.151

Oh, and you should do the Park to Park 10 miler too. Labor Day.
