Day 2. Rest.

Too bad. It's a beautiful morning out there.

I'm sore, but I don't think I'm walking funny. Yesterday at the beginning of church someone said I was walking fine, but then later someone said I was walking fun. I guess I got tired as the day wore on. I should be a bit better today. I'll see what people have to say at work.

I had an absolutely fabulous trip to Utah. It really was perfect. I enjoyed staying at my sister's house and running the rail trail up there. Sometime when I'm in Utah but not racing, I want to do a long run on that rail trail. I had a fun day sewing with my mom. I got to have lunch with a friend and then had an awesome time with Lori and Marion and a great race. Even the travel between Colorado and Utah went without a hitch. My flight coming home was even early. And I kid you not, at the Denver Airport they were paging Mr. Jazz, Mr. Hugh Jazz, to the white courtesy telephone. He never picked up the phone. He must have run off somewhere with Bart Simpson.

Now it's back to reality with going to work and getting the kids through the last week and a half of school. And I've got to take this extra time that I get from minimal running the next two weeks to get that school quilt finished and get my house cleaned. Somehow I think I don't have enough extra time.

Wow, Carolyn. You are so strong. How about stairs? Forwards without trouble?

Good luck catching up. I'm so glad it was a success! A great foundation for your future running. :)

I know what you mean about not really having any extra time. I had so many things that had piled up that I am STILL feeling like I am running around trying to catch up. The good news is, at least for me, I have had a lot more energy so I can get so much more done now versus when I was running 70-80 mpw!

I am glad you are walking well ... don't forget some gentle stretching over the next couple of days. Your muscles will be in recovery for up to two weeks, no matter how good you feel ... now is a good time to pay attention to some of those muscles that screamed at you during and after the race (like your calves). When are you getting your massage? I would suggest later this week (it might be a little soon right now, but by Thursday/Friday it would be perfect!).

Take care Carolyn!

I can go down stairs and I think I look normal, but I do feel it.

I'm thinking that I won't have time for my massage until Saturday since I have to work all week.

Looks like you are recovering well. I'm feeling pretty good. I can do the stair... walking around I think I look normal...but I can still feel it a bit.

Good luck with all you want to get done :)

I'm so glad you are all mentioning walking funny and what not after a race. I felt this way after the half and thought maybe I did something wrong!

Enjoy the break. It's amazing how much time running takes out of our lives. But it gives so much back.

I still have yet to clean my house, too tired. So, when you get the energy, will you come and do mine, too???

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, May 19, 2009 at 17:58:57 from 198.241.217.15

Yeah right, Kelli. If you saw my house you wouldn't ask me that. I'm still waiting for the magic fairies to come clean my house while I'm at work. But instead I'm going to have a bunch of kids home all day making bigger messess pretty soon.

Mine all just got home, I am putting them to work!
