Marathon Pace Run. 2 miles easy, 4 miles @ MP - 10 sec./mile, 3 miles easy. Average pace: 8:51.

Weather: about 52°, but good weather data is lacking because motionbased is down again.

I didn't feel like getting up and running this morning, but I felt better once I did it. I was shooting for about 8:15 on the MP - 10 sec. mile section of the run. I didn't quite make it on the first of the 4 MP miles despite that it was largely downhill. I guess it just took me a while to get warmed up. Splits were 10:09, 9:30, 8:25, 8:14, 8:13, 8:10 (this mile was uphill and hard) 8:56, 9:00, 9:03.

My training schedule says to take a rest day the day before the race. However, I think I'm going to take a rest day tomorrow and then run short and easy on Thursday and Friday. I often feel a little sluggish the day after a rest day and tomorrow's a travel day anyway.

You still had a good run, despite feeling slow at he start. I also like your changing of the plan, but make sure you take it real easy on Friday.

Good luck on your traveling tomorrow.

Great job on the run!

I'd also rather take a rest day two days before the marathon and do a short easy run the day before, otherwise I feel like I'm going into it "cold"

I think you are planning what is best for your body and it will pay-off come raceday. I, personally, like to take the rest day just prior to a race. Only you know what works best for you, regardless of the training program you are on. You will kill it on Saturday!

I must have really different physiology from you and many others. When I have a rest day, I feel super energetic afterward. This is another sign that your training has been great: you know yourself and what you need to feel good on Saturday. :)

Looks like you have a good plan. I'm probably going to take Thurs. off then run a couple slow ones on Friday. I guess I'll see how it goes. I tend to be like you and feel a bit sluggish the day after a rest day.

S. Sundwall has me running 3 days before race day, taking off 2 days before and running 4 miles the day before. Good luck in your race! My body takes at least a mile to get warmed up.

If you're driving tomorrow you may want to stop every once in a while and at least run around the car. I find driving days to be much harder on my body than rest days which tend to be filled with more movement. Good luck Saturday!

I'm flying, edrickt. I drove from Denver to Moab the day before the Canyonlands Half and my legs were beat that evening. I think that's why that race was hard for me. Also, I didn't want to be faced with driving myself home after the marathon.

I can run around in the airport if you like ;)

Good luck! I know you will do so well!
