Treshold run. 2 min. easy, 15 min @ 1/2 MP, 2 min. easy, 15 min @ 1/2 MP, 2+ miles easy. Average pace: 9:18.

Weather: 32°F, 92% humidity, wind 8 SSW, SNOWING.

If ever there was a day that I should have work yaktrax, this was it. However, when I looked out the window first thing this morning and decided what to wear, it didn't look that bad. But conditions rapidly deteriorated, mostly while I was out there running. It was snowing lightly when I got up this morning, snowed quite heavily for a good chunk of my run, and then had pretty much stopped snowing by the time I finished my run. So lucky me, I was out there for the worst of it. There was one big stretch shortly after I started the 2+ mile cooldown that was just a big puddle of slush. My feet got soaked through. In fact, my whole self was soaked through by the time I got home.

I was pretty sluggish at the start and average pace on the first two miles was 10:35. I had hoped to get the 1/2 MP sections around 8:00, but I just couldn't do it in these conditions and with my tired legs from last Saturday's long run. My pace on the first one was 8:24 and the second one was 8:23. So at least I was consistent.

When will spring every come? Where is the sun? I just want to be warm. And dry. (I should come back and look at this in a couple of months when I'm complaining that it's too hot.)

Oh Carolyn! I did think we were done with the snow. How awful. I think it's worse to have it now than in actual Winter, when we're at least expecting it. Awesome job getting out there in it.

btw, I cannot see my post for today, nor can I see several others who are listed in "Recent Posts." But yours popped up just fine.

Scratch that. I see it now.

Bonnie, I'm just a little fuzzy about what my various paces are supposed to be. There's the 1/2 MP that I actual ran at Moab, and then there's the 1/2 MP that I ran with Sasha six days later, so it's all kind of a ballpark anyway. But maybe you're right and the pace I ran today was really the right one. If so, then I guess that's a good thing.

BTW, the snow is coming down pretty steadily again now.

So sorry to to hear about the snow... It just crazy that you are still getting snow. I hope it warms up today and melts it all.

Nice run though!

Yeah, good job getting out in it. Maybe we'll just go right from Winter to Summer, without much Spring in between.

Hi Carolyn, I deleted my previous comment. I don't want to confuse you or interject my opinions too much as everyone is different and what works for some people doesn't work for others. You have to find your own way and find what works for you. The main thing is you got out and under less-than-ideal conditions did a great run.

Have a great day!

No worries, Bonnie. I always appreciate your advice and I know I have a tendency to run my workouts too fast.

We had great weather here today in SLC. Should be sending it your way tomorrow. Of course, then there is more rain/snow on Tues/Wed. Sorry.

Nice run, CC. Early morning run in the snow at the end of April. Think of it as character building, not just miles.
