Slow, wet slog, aka recovery run in the snow.

6:15 am, 30°F, 83% humidity, wind 9 NW, snowing, about an inch of snow on the ground.

I put on my smart wool and strapped on my yaktax and headed out the door. (Actually, I dawdled for a long time first.) I stood there for a minute and thought about going back inside, but then I'd just have to run later, so I decided just to get it over with.

The problem with yaktrax in a freshly fallen wet snow like this is that they develop snowballs under your feet every few steps and then the snowballs fall off a few steps later. Rinse and repeat.

At one point a bus went by me and sprayed a bunch of snow on me. A while later, a snow plow went by me and he slowed way down in order to avoid spraying a bunch of snow on me. I yelled out thank you to the universe because there's no way he could hear me.

I'm glad that if we had to have snow, at least it was on a day that I had a recovery run.

Your carma is paying off. The snow plow... the snow on recovery day... all because you are so dedicated :)

Nice run!

That was nice of him to slow down. Great job just getting out today. What a challenge.

LUCKY! our snow yesterday was an ice slush combo! I am so glad that the plow did not plow you! :) Our plow drivers get paid extra for ever runner sprayed :)

I'm glad the run was decent despite the weather. I'm getting REALLY tired of the spring snow. Snow in December - February is enjoyable, but it's getting old now!!

I was just thinking this morning how winter is technically from December 21 through March 21, or thereabouts. Yet we get snow from October through April, and sometimes earlier or later than that even. Winter is overstepping its bounds. What's up with that?

From Tracy on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 15:52:23 from 209.175.177.37

Glad it was a slow day! That makes it more tolerable. But it's hard for me to picture snow when it is tornado season here.

Mother Nature. What a jerk.

:)

Nice running thru the slog - I've gotten sprayed pretty bad by passing vehicles, too :( But here's some good news - we're going to send some gorgeous weather your way! :)

PS: You're no ordinary machine. A more fitting blog title for you would be "Master of the Plan"!

From Smooth on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 17:54:12 from 174.23.201.210

You're so dedicated. I'd stayed indoor...am tired of running in the slush, sprayed by motorists the last few months. I think Winter is finally leaving us. Sunshine should be heading your way.

P.S. I'm with CookieLegs...You're NO ordinary machine! You're definitely MASTER of the Plan!

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 18:32:45 from 71.219.92.128

You get snow, we finally see some spring. Hmmm. so sorry for you! I hate it when cars spray me, I want to chase them down and....I dunno, spit on them or something!

Great job braving the winter wonderland weather this beautiful spring day!

737 miles so far this year. Not bad for an "Ordinary Machine".

Snow in april is very yuck!

Ordinary Machine? I thought you were an Extraordinary machine? And you are. Good job with the wet snow!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Thu, Apr 08, 2010 at 10:19:33 from 24.8.167.243

Extraordinary machine just seems too cocky.

From Kelli on Thu, Apr 08, 2010 at 10:28:42 from 71.219.92.128

There as no such thing as too cocky on a blog, right?
