B-hills loop this morning. Legs felt just bad. My calves were a little sore from Saturdays workout but still runnable. However things felt kind of like they did in the marathon a few weeks ago. In fact it was strikingly similar. I just couldn't get any turnover and trying to get the legs to roll was all labor. I'm not sure the reason. It was pretty humid this morning with temps around 60 F.... I just don't know but I'd love to stop having these kind of running days.

Inner B-hills loop. Still pretty drained tonight. I need  a solid nights rest.

DC/ River Road loop. Construction has taken .2 off this course and made it 10 miles straight up. I felt night and day better than I've been feeling and I was DEAD. Spent the day shoveling, and moving dirt. Plus planted 3 massive trees.... alone. Glad to push a run in after a long, long day.

One of the scariest runs of my life. I did the same loop as yesterday. Didn't leave the house until after Mik'L got home from the office and meetings at almost 6:30 p.m. There was a hefty storm rolling in but I didn't think much about it. By the time I got over to the end of B-hills and on the trail there was lighting striking everywhere. All sides of town and in town. Each strike seemed to get closer and closer and by the time I was on the trail up past the DC on the way back to River Road it was an all out down poor. For the last 5 miles of this run I honestly went into 5k race pace as fast as I could back home. The legs were flying and my heart was about to jump out of my chest. On top of it all my lungs were full of a ton of dust from the wood chips I'd been spreading around the yard the last two days. This was creating a BIG problem. I just couldn't get enough air in and the lungs felt "pinched" as I was coughing up junk.

Anyways I made it home and for the next 2 hours I was in kind of a hyperventilated, crazy mental state... all worked up about the run, storm, lighting. It was actually kind of scary and Mik'L wanted to take me to the ER on several occasions. But after a few hours I finally calmed down, caught my breath and was able to go to sleep at around 11 p.m.

I guess you had to be here but it was pretty intense for  a while.

Took Myler out to try and get a shorter run in. I was planning on going on the inner B-hills loop but... about 2 miles into it I just was dead. Couldn't really go anymore. Then had to stop and sit on a bench for about 10 min's. Finally I got going again enough to make it back home.

Not sure why I was so trashed. Maybe the tempo/ race pace last night and the lungs stuff? IDK? Anyways Mik'L wouldn't let me run again today so I took the afternoon off.

I'm a roller coaster right now. Some runs are just horrible and some are great. Today's was pretty dang good. Looped out into the fields and then Stone Cliff and back through B-hills. I started with a 7:50 mile to warm up then everything else was sub 7 min. I wasn't trying to go into tempo gear just to run smooth and easy. In fact around mile 3 I felt a little tired and thought I was working too hard for 7:20 pace... I looked at the garmin and was at 6:15 pace. No wonder. So just tried to relax and slow down but the pace never really got slower than 6:40 the rest of the run.

Hit the run with a 6:46 avg or 9.85 miles in 1:06

6.5 miles tonight around my hood mapping out a mile repeat course. Saved the life of two little dogs from a speeding truck. Yeah I'm a hero.

Big workout this morning with Logan at my house. I've been wanting to set up a good mile repeat course out on the roads so I did and we ran it. The course is pretty tough/ honest... I'd say 5-8 seconds slower than on a track. It loops around my house. The loop is 1.3 miles long. So we start the mile section and then have a .3 recovery or just over 2 min's. There is some slight downhill and some slight to good uphill.

We hit a 5.6 mile warm up then got going. With the miles @ 5:13, 5:16, 5:20, 5:14, 5:17

Logan and I were really pumped to hit such a good workout. Starting off we both thought it would be good to keep them under 5:30... so we did that and more. Legs felt pretty good. Tummy not so much as on the 3rd one I started the dry heaving and it stayed with me until we stopped. But all things considered this is one of the best workouts for me in some time. Plus it was very humid. Logan looked like he jumped in and out of a pool three times just during our warm up.
