Last long run before the marathon. Wanted a marathon specific workout today so I did 3 miles ez followed by 3x3 miles at marathon pace with .5 jog in between sets. (On the last set I did 4 miles instead of 3) first 3 mile splits were 6:10, 6:36, 6:30. (College loop twice) kept recovery at 7:50-8:00 pace. Next set was 6:23, 6:36, 6:13.. Last set was 6:16, 6:28, 6:25, 6:14. (Last 1.5 miles at track) these splits were a little faster than marathon pace -but I felt pretty good today. Shooting for a 2:55 or better which is 6:40 pace. 1 miles cool down with 6 strides. (Did have a weird pain in my lower leg in my last set after my first 2 miles.. Same pain I felt a couple days ago on my run in durango-it came on suddenly and went away suddenly-but was kind of sharp and did cause me to slow just a bit. Lasted for about a mile....pain on my right leg.. The muscle underneath my inner ankle.. Weird) |
