Mon- Swim 2.5k walk 2.5k, my leg was bothering me so didn't run. Running buddy was patient and walked with me around the lake instead of running.
Tues- Swim 2.0k bike 10k. My running buddy has turned in to my biking buddy.
Wed- I can't even remember what I did this day. They say the first thing you lose is your memory...Now I remember, it was a stressful, busy day. I ran around in circles all day. :)
Thurs- Swim 2.0k, bike 15k.
Fri- Boot camp. Did some running, so far, leg feels ok. Hope it is ok for Saturday.
The Nancy Crosser race I have been looking forward to on Saturday got cancelled. They are changing it to a generic charity swim/run. I guess I will still go, I don't have any other early morning plans for Saturday.
SATURDAY- The charity swim/run went well. Official times aren't in but I had fun. The HS swim team, in the lane next to me, kicked my butt. But I was able to finish with a better swim time than last year (I think 30 seconds better). They threw the HS Boy's Basketball team in our lane (They did a relay swim) but I got out of the pool and transisition area the same time they did. Then, they totally CHEATED on the 5k run, and got a ride to the finish line on someones golf cart....stinkers. Last year was a 6k run, so it is hard to compare my total finish time, but I feel like I did better in general. And, most importantly...I WASN'T LAST, like I was last year. Yipee! My running buddy showed up to run the last 1k with me to the finish line. She is such a nice friend. And I saw my little 7 year old, who did the 500meter swim/3k run, running just ahead of me as my long course his short courses merged at the end. I was so proud of that little guy. He was the only one under 8 years old to finish. He is younger and stronger than I am, and I tried to sprint at the end, but never caught him. My 2 older kids decided to "volunteer" rather than swim/run. I know they both could have easily finished before me, but I was happy they at least helped out. It was nice to see and hear them cheer me on at kilometers 3 and 4. The only sad moment was remembering that friend that I entered with last year, wasn't there because she is undergoing treatments for breast cancer. I makes me cry thinking about it. She is such a great person and had just qualified for Boston the first time, a couple of months ago. I'm dedicating this charity swim/run to her.
