The week started well, then I lost focus mid week but tried to salvage things by the end of the week.

For now my goal is to do PT twice a week and stretch well twice a week. Longer term goal is to do an Olympic Tri this year. Speed goals are on hold until my hip problem gets under control. I did my 5k swim on 01jan so that is already off my bucket list.

    Monday -PT 5k run, ABS

    Tuesday - 1.5 k swim

Wednesday/ Thursday -  Our rotten cats brought fleas into the house over the Christmas break.  So I spent all day cleaning the house, landry, carpets, bedding, etc.  Got a good workout but nothing to chart as far as distance. I even carried the king size mattress across the room all by myself. I think I enhaled too much poison though because Thursday night I was feeling a bit sick.

Friday- Needed a break from the stress of  cleaning the house again all day so went for a 10k bike ride and a 3k walk around the neighborhood. Then came home and started more house cleaning.

Saturday- 1.2k swim  More house cleaning, but other family members were home to help. Almost done.  Thinking about putting up a sign "2 free Siamese cats"

Sorry about the fleas. Our dumb cat brought fleas aboard ship one summer and I nearly threw it overboard.

Glad to have you back on the blog. Your goals this year look great. Congrats on the 5k swim. Impressive!

it has been a tough year, i feel like i have aged 2 years in the first 2 months of this year. stress is getting the best of me and effecting my exercising/training. i am also not doing my pt exercises very well. i need someone to nag me about that. i hope march will be a better month. i think i will make march the start of my "new" mental year. put the past behind me and carry on.

Now, go do your PT!!! :)

Cat, when your stressed, best time to exercise and clear your mind. Hope you can get back to exercising. Hey, I am toying with doing Blackridge Tri,are you going to make the trek this year. Mabye a goal for both of us would help. I think me and Sylvie are going to sign up for the Des News 10K this year. Anyway, consider this a good swift kick in the butt, find the time to exercise daily, if only a short time, do it, do it. Earn some commando points.

tues -swim 2k, did some strange yoga class called kundalini. not sure about this yoga stuff

wed- bike 55. it was hot-dang hot. Over 105 degrees. It has been over 100 all week.

thurday- swim 1.6k, even the water is getting too warm, some gym stuff but no running.

friday-running class with sprints & such (3k) Did another slow 3k afterwards. Legs sore from sprints

saturday-Legs still sore from sprints but did a slow 6k run. Then did a 5k bike, 1k run (with son) Had a productive day sorting through piles of junk. It is amazing what you can do when you aren't sitting at a swim meet all day long...although I admitt that I love to watch my little fish swim fast :)

Did better with my PT this week. After all the sprints on Friday, my hip ached but wasn't really that sore. I hope this is a good sign.  I read the blog link about the top mistakes runners make. I think I did every one of them.  Botom line- I need to increase my total running time per week. Rather than distance or speed, just total running time right now. I've only been running about twice per week, but this week I did 3x and was ok. I think I am  going to try to fit in 2-3 short runs per week and then one 6k per week. If my hip cooperates, I will start adding some more distance again.

I've read that top 10 list too. I remember thinking that I make some of those mistakes, but I try to not think about them too much, because ignorance is bliss.

You are keeping busy with a good variety of different exercises. I think that is really important to help stay strong and prevent injury.

I'm going to try and not complain about the weather- I can't believe you're already having such horrible heat. I'm sure it's heat with humidity, which is just insufferable. Crock-pot cookin' hot.

    Monday- 5k run, .5k swim, 10k bike

Tuesday- 1.6k swim, PT exercises, 20 minutes gym stuff

Wednesday- 2.5k run, 60 bike, 2.5k run. It was my friends birthday she arranged a  fun birthday ride. At the mid-way  rest stop she arranged for frozen birthday cake, cool towels, & a water balloon fight.

Thursday- swim 1.6, run 3k, PT exercises,

Friday- running class (sprints) and 10k bike ride

Saturday- 5 k fun run with the family. My 8 year was faster than me. I need to pace off of him next time.

At the end of the week I was happy with my running progress. I did some running almost everyday, instead of just trying to run twice a week and do sprints to help build speed.  My weekly running distance went up and my hip was ok after the 5k run Saturday. I'm going to keep up this idea of focusing on more running during the week rather than trying to get faster, as I don't think I have a solid enough base yet.  I also did good with my PT, almost everyday.  I will need to keep the PT up as I try to add more distance again.

Holiday week. Kids off school. Did my PT almost everyday. Trying to throw in more shorts runs during the week. I figiure a short run is better than no run.  My friend has got me hooked on spinach blender drinks. Strange, but they are good.

    Monday- bike 6k, run 2k, swim 1k

    Tuesday- bike 10k, run 3k

Wednesday- swim 1.6, run 1k (every little bit counts, right? )

Thurday - watched the kids wake board

    Friday- Run 4k, bike 3k

Saturday- Run 6k (in yellow and blue) , Bike 10k The market was out of spinach today, so I had to try Chinese kale. I don't like it as much as spinach.

Warm water is tough to enjoy unless it's a hot tub or bath. I'm guessing water balloon games don't help cool you off as much in the pool.

A lady I work with does cross fit, and she loves it. It sounds like something that would make me so sore I wouldn't be able to move for a week.
