Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

Last night we realized there was a free 5k a few blocks from our house this morning, so we registered and made a plan to run to the start. But somehow in between both of us being up with Elliott we turned off/slept through our alarms and didn't make it to the race. So we just did an easy out-and-back on the bike path. It's an uphill/downhill route, and my knee didn't hurt at all until the downhill. I was really hoping it would be healed since I've taken so much time off, but it's not. Whatevs. I don't know what I'm going to do about it, but there's enough else to be stressed about right now that I'm not going to add not being able to run very much to the list.

I wish we had gone to the race, though! It sounds like there were at least a few FRBers there (congrats, Melody!) and the course covered some of our normal running roads.

sorry you missed the race, but maybe it was for the better in the long run. Sometimes sleep is just that important!!

I will tell you the only thing that got rid of my ITB stuff was a cortisone shot and then rest (like 2 months, due to SF) and then faithful stretching and hip stabilization exercises. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this!!!
