Half-marathon: 1:41:41, 8/28/2010 Short-Term Running Goals: Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;) Long-Term Running Goals: I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life. Personal: I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family). Favorite Blogs: |

Started with the sojourners again for their Saturday run. Ran with Eric's brother's girlfriend (ebgf) again - good chats, mellow pace. For part of the time I wished I was running with the group, but then I though, "Self? Who are you kidding? If you could keep up with them for 10 miles, you'd probably have a sucky next couple of days." I was probably right. Plus, I'm still getting over my all-nighter Thursday night and I've got a bummer sore throat. After writing my FRB post I looked at some people's blogs and saw that there was a super fancy group run this morning with a lot of the local runners I admire. It made me want to do better at running. I don't think I'll ever have a goal of running 20 miles at a sub-6 pace, but I do know I can do a lot better than I'm doing. I'm VERY excited for this semester to be over, and I hope I can remember never to take on this much again. |

| | With Eric and Elliott. Our average pace was 8:22. It felt like I was working at it, but it didn't feel too fast and I could still talk with Eric the whole time. Sometimes I feel guilty that I don't run more, and I feel bad for taking my fitness for granted. I'm grateful that I can just go out and run pretty much whenever I feel like it even if I haven't been running much, but I feel bad for not running much. |

| | Two laps around the Rose Bowl with Elliott in the not-jogger stroller. My arms got pretty tired, but other than that it was fine. We went pretty slow and sped up for the last .5 mile (ish). I didn't use a watch or garmin or anything. I'd like to just jump back into running. Hopefully I won't get the poops as long as I keep things slow. And I might as well since I'm not pregnant. Again. |
