Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

I wanted another 5 today, but last night was kind of an all-nighter* and even though I got a couple of naps today (thanks, Eric!) I felt extra tired. So I was just going to do 3, but Biggest Loser was wrapping up (ah, Biggest Loser...remember when that girl sat on the steps and cried because she didn't want to work out?).

*Until 5:00. But Elliott does this thing where she wakes up at about 5:15ish and fusses/cries until we put her in bed with us for the last hour or two until we get up (I know, we shouldn't have ever let this start). It sucks. We're trying to make it stop. Two mornings ago we let her fuss for an hour and a half. She'll fall back asleep if we go in and hold her hand or comfort her or whatever, but somehow she knows when we leave her room. Tomorrow we're just going to try getting her (and us) up when she wakes up. Even though we're so so tired.

Also, if anyone knows how to make her want to eat solids...we've been trying for about 3.5 months, and she's still not interested in rice, oatmeal, bananas, apples, mangoes, pears, carrots, avocados, peas, or sweet potatoes. In a spoon or in her hand. Sometimes a mesh feeder works for a few bites, but that's not really a sustainable solution.

Okay, first off don't worry about the not eating thing...well, maybe a little, but not too much. She will get it down. How old is she now? Adam had the hardest time with solids for such a long time. It drove me NUTS! But, he is a great eater now. I know patience isn't what you want to hear :( maybe give her the spoon - stand back and see what happens. Sometimes they just like to play in it to get a feel for it first.

Sorry about your 'alarm clock' - but she is pretty cute, isn't she? :) I would take my kids to bed with me when they woke up in the night, but always made them go to sleep in the first place in their beds. I don't think this is as bad as co-sleeping, because eventually they DO sleep through the night and since they are used to only moving when they wake up, guess what? They naturally transition to NOT being in your bed anymore. Just my 2 cents :)

Nice job getting the miles in despite being horribly tired. Those are hard days!!

She'll be 8 months on the 5th. I figure we shouldn't worry too much until her 9 month appointment where they check her weight again. Yeah, we should let her just play with the spoon and food more. Thanks for the suggestion.

And yes, she's cute and cuddly and super sweet and we actually love having her in our bed but we hate the waking up to have to go get her part. But it's easier than having to let her cry, and it does make sense that it'd stop if she's sleeping longer...

Thanks RAD :)
