Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

Super lame about all the cold tonight. Three treadmill miles.

About halfway through I got some kind of nerve-ish pain in my right bumcheek. I finished my planned 3 miles, but over the next couple of days I'll have to figure out if I just need to stretch more or if I'm increasing mileage too quickly. Since quitting the church job my goal is 20 miles/week for probably a couple of months while I get my body used to running consistently. I feel like 20 miles isn't too big of a jump even if I wasn't running at all (but I was running some), but maybe it is. Or maybe it was just one of those random still-lactating-and-so-still-have-loose-joints (that's real, right?) pains.

I get so embarrassed when I come to your blog.

Because I talk about lactating? Or because the pictures I post are cuter than the pictures you post? Or because you know that if you visit my blog you'll have to comment and then I'll visit your blog and read about how you did a two-handed point, and really that's probably one of the most embarrassing things someone can do?

All of the above.

That's fair.

That sounds like sciatica to me. It is a nerve that runs right down your bum and can get triggered by a lot of different things. Having babies triggers mine.

Interesting. Cat just had a baby. We may be on to something.
