Personal:

My name is Eugenio I was born near Rome, Italy, in 1972 and lived there for 29 years, then in 2001 I moved to Salt Lake City for work and for seven years and one month that was my home, since 2008 I am back to Italy. I started running in 2003 when I realized I could not ride my bike throughout the Utah winter.

Welcome to the blog. Adam seems to be a pretty cool guy, but I haven't been to his blog in forever. Happy training.

Two inches of snow transformed Rome in a trap for cars and people.

My normal commute by train takes 1 hour, yesterday by train and car it took almost five hours, when I got back home I went out for a run just to relax and enjoy the snow.

It was not like running in the snow up Dry Creek canyon but it was beautiful anyway, at 9 pm I was the only person around. I really like how the white rubber of my running shoes is white again after a good run on snow. 6.3 miles at 6:16/km.

Welcome to the blog, Eugenio! I spent a week in Rome one December a long time ago and it snowed as well. It WAS a mess, but I loved it! I used to live in Torino and Perugia and I remember well and fondly running the hills there.

After 0.2 miles I was wet from head to toe, after another mile I was wet, miserable, cold, alone in the dark in a desert industrial area; instead going home I transformed my training in a mental training I was no longer there but I was running the last 10 km of a marathon and I had to cross the finish line. It really worked my brain started focusing on this task and was no longer "distracted" by negative thoughts. During the last km it stopped raining, it was my reward.

 6.4 miles at 5:51/km

Great idea! I think i'll use that one when I get tired and discouraged.

Just be careful sometimes this trick doesn't work, especially when things outside and/or inside are really "bad". For me it works about 70% of the time.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Does il Papa know you're running maratona di Roma on la domenica?

Sorry I couldn't help trying out my lost Italian. It's been 24 years since I was in Italia as a missionario.

From Camillo on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 09:05:25 from 193.205.233.25

In Italy almost all the running events (included those organized by catholic organizations, like the Corsa dei Santi on nov 1st) are held on sunday. Last year during the Rome Marathon while I was running in front of St Peter square there was a domenican monk giving his blessing to the runners asking for it. So I think I should be fine.

Your Italian is still understandable, without practice foreign languages are probably considered by the brain a useless waste of cerebral space and energies, my english is fading really fast (unfortunately), that obeys to the general rule: use it or loose it.

Where did you serve as a missionario?

From TBean on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 11:39:02 from 63.241.173.64

I served in Rimini, Pistoia, Roma, and Napoli.

From Camillo on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 15:03:03 from 79.52.244.207

Wow you visited four very different cities and probably met several different aspects of italian life.

2010 was my highest mileage year ever with 2672 miles, I am very happy about this huge (at least for me) goal.

Now I am out for a short vacation and then I will start writing down my goals for 2011.

Buon anno a tutti!!!
