Personal:

My name is Eugenio I was born near Rome, Italy, in 1972 and lived there for 29 years, then in 2001 I moved to Salt Lake City for work and for seven years and one month that was my home, since 2008 I am back to Italy. I started running in 2003 when I realized I could not ride my bike throughout the Utah winter.

5X1600 with 3 minutes recovery (jogging between 400m and 500m).

This time it went much better than last two times when I did a similar run.

These are the things were different this time: I just did only 600 meters as a warm up and then I used the first 1600m to get blood in my legs, in this way in my first lap I was not sprinting all out as I was chased down by a bear. First lap in 6:22.

Another thing that was different instead progressively accelerating toward the end of the recovery time I started going when the time started, in this way I used the first 200m to reach the cruising speed and then maintained, accelerating a little bit at the end to make up for the first 200m. Second lap 6:19, third 6:18, forth 6:20, fifth 6:18. Much better than the previous times when I could barely hold 6:28 average.

Overall I felt great about this training run but I felt I was cheating because last night I was forced (by the weather) to rest, tonight my legs were much fresher than usual. At least now I know that on rested legs I can go sub 6:20 for 5 repeats.
