My legs are even more sore than they were yesterday!  I just ran my regular route today, but it was a little more sunny because it was 10am.  I lost my job yesterday.  I could see the fish in the canal.  I stopped and got a drink at the water magic fountain.  I wonder if the water comes straight from the canal?

Lost your job? :(

From auntieem on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 17:00:02 from 67.182.149.104

Really? Lost your job? Bummer, Burt.

At least the fish in the water were alive and healthy, so the water is probably OK.

From Rye on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 18:07:51 from 75.174.18.241

I'm sorry Burt. What field of work are you in anyway?

From Burt on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 18:31:03 from 72.223.91.148

It's ok. They were financially raping me anyway. I'm a civil engineer by trade. It may be time for a new career. Any suggestions?

From ACorn on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 18:44:51 from 24.2.76.146

You are a stud Burt! I think you could make it as a professional blogger.

From on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 19:29:47 from 170.135.241.45

Sorry about the bad news. Job market in Utah is a little better than AZ.

From Eric Day on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 20:12:20 from 189.196.43.98

Oh Burt. Sorry to hear this. Hope you find something soon. Keep the chin up.

From Squirrel on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 20:19:48 from 75.105.64.39

Geez that bums me out about your job! i suggest you substitute teach-not kidding! You would make a great teacher. There is always a need and there are lots of school districts. That could be just for fun while you look at other options. Hey, I see you got new shoes-good for you--how do you like them?

From Bonnie on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 20:20:13 from 128.196.228.134

NOOOOOO ... oh Burt, I am so very sorry. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

From allie on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 22:25:29 from 24.10.191.18

sorry burt :(

From Hamdog Alum on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 23:04:37 from 68.185.190.140

Burt sorry to hear about the job loss. My father-in-law is an electrical engineer nearing retirement. He's always worried Honeywell is going to find a way to lay him off before he can collect his pension. Damn CEO's are always looking at ways to save a buck or tweaking things so their stock continues to pay. Don't tell me they are sending your job to China! Good luck on the job hunt. Seriously, consider squirrel about the sub-teaching while looking around. Easy pay and the kids would love your personality.

From Tara on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 23:22:18 from 75.169.148.25

Ohh, sorry Burt:( Gosh, I think you could do about anything and be good at it. Good luck in the hunt.

From Leandra on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 23:54:12 from 97.117.110.227

Bummer. Good thing you've got so many friends. I'm sure you'll find somehthing else soon. I like the idea of professional blogger.

From DaleG on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 23:56:33 from 152.216.11.5

Duuuude, that's horrible news. If I could help you get a job, I would.

From DaleG on Fri, Sep 16, 2011 at 02:36:32 from 152.216.11.5

Check out www.usajobs.gov

You might even find a job as a civil engineer.

Seriously!

From The Quiet Pirate on Fri, Sep 16, 2011 at 11:46:45 from 152.26.59.252

Burt- I second/third squirrel. There's always something available in pillaging and plundering- let me know.

And now that you know the magical fountain gets it's magic from fish feces, maybe it's time to carry a water bottle.

From Chad on Fri, Sep 16, 2011 at 14:24:17 from 204.113.19.55

Total bummer. Good luck with the job hunt. You'll be back out there in no time.

Burt, I'm so sorry!

From julieesplin on Fri, Sep 16, 2011 at 16:28:33 from 75.169.171.164

I am so sorry to hear about your job. When you wrote "I could see the fish in the canal" I thought you were talking about your job, like "I could see the writing on the wall" etc. But when I read "I wonder if the water comes straight from the canal?" I thought, oh boy that's like a "class 1/2 empty comment," coming from Burt! Nothing seems quite as good when the necessities are on the line. I really hope thinks work out well for you quickly. I'll keep you in my prayers.

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Sep 16, 2011 at 16:58:47 from 205.158.160.209

Sorry to hear about the job Burt. Good luck!

From Carina on Fri, Sep 16, 2011 at 17:07:50 from 204.15.86.83

Sorry about the job loss, I know it may be hard to see now, but it may end up being a great thing. You will find a better job soon!!

From Sue on Fri, Sep 16, 2011 at 17:29:18 from 63.248.41.148

Oh Burt I'm sorry! This economy stinks! I hope you find a better match and an employer that appreciates you!

From jess1 on Sat, Sep 17, 2011 at 15:34:00 from 74.179.3.11

Sending good job vibes your way. Goodness knows you deserve it!

From Burt on Sat, Sep 17, 2011 at 15:46:57 from 72.223.91.148

Hey thanks everyone. I had just picked up some side work before it happened. Hopefully it's enough to make ends meet until I find a new job. Love you all.

From RAD on Sat, Sep 17, 2011 at 17:53:09 from 76.27.16.189

Oh Burt, I too express my sympathy. However, substitute teaching really is a good go-between. Good luck with the side work!

From SlowJoe on Sun, Sep 18, 2011 at 11:05:46 from 75.109.104.60

Just saw this - good luck on the job search, hoping for the best for you.

From Chad Robinson on Tue, Sep 20, 2011 at 02:53:15 from 208.110.158.227

Absolutely awful news Burt. I hope it wasn't a surprise at least. My wife and I have had a backup plan for a few years now if I happened to lose my job (it is scary being tied to the building industry). On the bright side, just think of all the running you can do now and the amount of quality time you can spend with your wife and kids. I wish the best for you.
