3 mile recovery run.  So Friday we saw this pigeon out in the road with its wings spread out struggling to move.  Then the car in the lane next to us plowed it over and it was like a feather bomb went off.  Saturday I saw a dove in the road while I was running that appeared to have a broken wing.  I felt bad for it, but you know, circle of life and everything.  Then today as I was running along the canal bank I swear a dove was trying to commit suicide by laying across the Union Burtific RR tracks.  I didn't see it in the shadow of a tree at first, but when I got close to it, it was staring right at me not moving.  I swerved around it, and it waddled away.  What's wrong with these birds?  Maybe they have bird flu.

Time - 27:23 (avg. pace 9:08)

Splits - 9:07, 9:02, 9:14

From Chad on Mon, Mar 14, 2011 at 12:16:12 from 168.177.153.5

You changed the name of your blog. Am I late to this party? Now you just have to qualify for the Olympic trials to justify the title.

From Burt on Mon, Mar 14, 2011 at 13:43:15 from 206.19.214.144

Jun - Thanks for jinxing me. If I get it, I'm coming to your house to breathe on all your door knobs, use all your toilets, and roll around in my sweat on your sheets.

Lily - Burt Burt Burt. Burt is the word.

Chad - You don't need an OTQ to be famous. Just ask this guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmnimOoJeJ4

From Chad on Mon, Mar 14, 2011 at 14:06:03 from 168.177.153.5

So if you can't be famous through talent, you can achieve fame by being goofy?

From Burt on Mon, Mar 14, 2011 at 14:47:09 from 206.19.214.144

Other examples are Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen.

From Burt on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 02:25:38 from 72.223.90.79

Preston! Blasphemy! Have you ever seen the movie the Sandlot? Remember when Smalls didn't know who Babe Ruth was?? Well, that's you! Nan is blog royalty!! She just took 2nd place at the 15k Nationals!

Sorry RAD and allie. I'm too flustered now to respond individually to your comments.

From Burt on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 02:26:08 from 72.223.90.79

I can't stay mad at Preston too long. He did say that I wasn't too scary.

From Merri on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 10:44:24 from 160.7.252.148

I almost got pooped on by a bird on Sunday. Good thing it was almost.

From Burt on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 12:28:32 from 206.19.214.144

Merri - almost only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and splattering bird poop.

From runningafterbabies on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 14:20:54 from 24.10.211.135

It must be a sign of some sort.

From Burt on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 14:41:34 from 206.19.214.144

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

From Rhett on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 16:26:38 from 74.36.33.52

Crazy birds. I had one fly right into the grill of my truck the other day as I was driving down the road. Stupid bird.

From Burt on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 19:46:15 from 206.19.214.144

Sounds like dinner!

From Rye on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 22:22:52 from 75.174.13.229

The birds might just be crazy... or Burt is smoking some wacky stuff. Who's Babe Ruth?

From allie on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 00:17:59 from 174.23.241.50

text me at 237. i have some possessed doves for your next magic show.

From Burt on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 01:46:13 from 72.223.90.79

Rye! If you don't know who Babe Ruth is, you better check the candy aisle of your local grocery store!

allie - Okay. But I have to play the Final Countdown during the show.

From The Quiet Pirate on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 12:06:29 from 152.26.59.252

Were you wearing a shirt while you were running? It may explain the bird behavior.

All that partially shaved/partial stubble growth on your partially hairy chest could have sent them over the edge.

From The Quiet Pirate on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 12:06:51 from 152.26.59.252

And what's up with Lady Liberty this week?

From Burt on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 13:06:46 from 72.223.90.79

QP - Lady Liberty has been around this week, but he's been avoiding my high fives.
