Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

What I Talk About When I Talk About Running ( Haruki Murakami)  things we have may all thought, but may never blog

Roughing It - Mark Twain

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Lazy River - 1 hour of water running.  Nothing special, uneventful.  Mental wakeup, just realized what the heck Sasha and some other runners have been blogging about catching the 7 min.guy or 8 min guy.  There is not real guy, just an imaginary time on the Garmin?  I kept thinking, how does the 7 min. guy show up everyday on Sasha's run?

Injury Update - Bone bruise seems to be much better.  When riding the bike saturday, stopped at a hitching post on the bridal path and ran 25 feet and then back 25 feet.  The knee seems to be getting better.

Bike - 3 miles after work, road the parkway looking for Sylvie, came home, she had already returned, I did not guess right looking for her.

Nordic Trak - 1 hours on the machine while Sylvie was out running with Sally, they are running the Race for the Cure saturday.

I wondered who the 7 or 8 minute guy was too.

Sorry we missed you at Cookie Chaser, had to run to Alex next event, baseball in Orem. I wanted to run the 5K, but admit I wasnt ready and worn out.

Glad youre slowly getting better - one step at a time

It took me awhile to figure out the 7:00 guy too, but not this long! :) I love to hear you say thing seem to be getting better! You are definitely a patient man! (I'm sure Sylvie has to be a very patient wife too!:) ) I can't imagine how Tom would be if he were going through all of this. I hope I never have to find out!

From Sylvie on Mon, May 05, 2008 at 13:59:43

Thanks Kim for backing me up about how grumpy you are! I'm super happy your knee is feeling better. Keep up the good for you workouts.:)

From Brent on Mon, May 05, 2008 at 14:45:01

Kim, Sylvie, you both have me pegged. Yes, I have been gumpy, etc. It has been tough. But, on a happy side, Kim, both me and Sylvie thank you so much for comments on Jayden's blog. He is our next door neighbor, our former bishop's son and a very upstanding young man. He is only a freshman and has great potential.

Michael, we will catch you at the next race, I guess you could cash in those 1,000 commando points for some crocs? I have issued too many to start cashing those in for real running shoes.

A grumpy (or is that gumpy - like Forrest Gump-y?) Brent? I can't imagine such a thing! You're still inspiring many of us with the cross-train diligence and stories so please keep it up!

I think Forrest had it pegged on the real reason most of us run....."Aw just felt like runnin'". Brent I've been promoting the "every run is a great run" concept for a while but seeing you struggle with the injuries has made me realize how true that really is! Hope things continue to get better and better for you.

From Lybi on Mon, May 05, 2008 at 23:18:34

Hey, good news about that knee! Just keep it up. We are all loving your stories.

From Sasha Pachev on Mon, May 05, 2008 at 23:39:46

Brent - he is not even on the Garmin for me. I know my quarter mile marks.

From sarah on Mon, May 05, 2008 at 23:40:35

You are an inspiration keeping fit through an injury. I really admire that in you.

From Brent on Tue, May 06, 2008 at 18:55:30

Hey, blogging team, thanks. I always thought that 7 min guy was real. I kind of miss him now I know he is a virtual runner. Maybe commando points for passing the virtual 7 min guy. I will give it some thought.
