AM - A little over 4 miles with Dan and our dogs on the golf course.   His calf issue is not yet resolved so we did quite a few walking sessions to allow the tightness to subside.

PM - a couple of miles on the treadmill with this nifty gadget I got to attach to it.  Essentially it is an optical scanner that is attached to the side near the belt, and a few stickers are placed on the belt to measure the actual speed of the machine.  I love this because it takes the guess-work out of the treadmill calibration for speed and distance; and the scanner sends the data over ANT+ and Bluetooth - so it connects to my Garmin and I even can connect the scanner and my watch to Zwift for a gamelike avitar running on an animated screen.   On my particular treadmill, the belt is actually moving faster than the speed at which it is set.  So, 8 mph is actually 8.2 mph.

AM - so I did the virtual Boston Marathon on my treadmill this morning.  The rules of the event allow for running anywhere including a treadmill.  With as warm as it has been here and the challenge with finding an outdoor route with water etc. I opted for the indoor run.   I was a little concerned about the new gadget I attached to my treadmill to assure accuracy would fail or disconnect but it worked out well.

I watched the movie Chariots of Fire and the beginning of Hoosiers and because I forgot to buy any Gatorade and didn't remember to bring my gels to the exercise room - I basically survived on 4 bottles of water.  Turned the AC down to 66 and had a floor fan and ceiling fan going.

My heart rate was good until around the last 10k and the last few miles were mentally and physically more challenging than I had expected - but I got it done.  I locked in on 7:23 pace around the third or fourth mile and left it there until I finished.

I have done a number of 20 mile runs on treadmills over the years but I think this is the longest distance I have ever done on one.   Overall I was pleased.  The last few miles were surprisingly harder than I expected but I am glad I chose to do it this way.
