PM - lunchtime on the treadmill, decent workout progression run.  3 mile warm up, then 2 miles at moderate pace 7:11, 7;03; then 2 miles at MP 6:49, 6:40; then 2 miles at HM 6:31, 6:22 then 2 miles faster than HM 6:18, 6:11.  1 mile cool down.  Felt better than I have been feeling, but not quite back to full strength or normal.  Pleased that I got through the workout, looking forward to doing workouts like this where I know I feel good and solid.  The iron deficiency should improve with the supplements over the next month or so.  With just a week of introducing the supplements, I feel considerably less fatigued and challenged by faster pacing.

Great that you're feeling better, Iron Man:). Good session there with some nice progression work.

Lick a rusty gate every now and then and you're good to go. Trav actually had serum ferritin of 18 going into his freshman XC season. We've tried to pay closer attention to diet and he has been supplementing since then. At last check this past summer he was his highest level yet at 53. As you've probably seen, it is widely variable and depends a lot on what is "normal" for you - for him, anything over 40 seems to be fully sufficient.

Glad to hear things a better if not stellar. But, hey, you worked your way through the 6-minute range with this progression run nicely today.

Thanks guys - feel a bit stupid for not having learned more about this and for having not monitored the situation. I cannot begin to describe how much better I feel both during and after runs.

Bam - Iron Man is good :) or may be superman with kryptonite in my pocket for the last couple of months. I really think this happened with the big miles over the summer. Extra capillary beds created by the aerobic miles means more RBC's were needed, and thereby depleting my iron stores.

Doug - Trav's 18 is really low. Good thing someone clued you guys into it early on.
