AM - had to travel on business yesterday to Minneapolis.  Went out for a run this morning with Richie in St. Paul along the river.  Cold, 29 degrees. Felt very good though and we ran a few half mile pick ups slightly faster than MP.

Is the race still on? Over here, on the news, they're showing NYC flooded.

If it is still on, good luck and I'll be watching out for you.

Thanks - I have not received any announcements of any change in plans. I read a story in the NY Times today that said the race officials are surveying the situation - 1. to make certain that none of the race route roads are impassible - and 2. to assess whether there are any issues with transportation that would prevent the race from proceeding. Here's hoping its all good!

I think it has more to do with travel delays. I just got this via my Facebook feed:

I think much of the excitement in the air has folks feeling a bit crazier than the situation really is, but I am not sure.

Maybe you should fly back to Indy, Bret. First pick up the Bamster. He can run the half or 5k where he doesn't have a taper :)

I'll do the full and then come back to pace you two - should meet both of you around the half way point:)

Jason - thanks for the updates. Mayor Bloomberg announced the race was still going on. Really just waiting to see whether my flight will be affected on Friday. Oddly have been in this situation a couple of times...Boston 2007 - a Noreaster blew through and there were hourly updates as to whether the race was going to be cancelled. Ended up that they were able to go ahead with it. Couple of years earlier I was on my way to the airport for a new race in DC which was cancelled 48 hours before the event - due to security concerns. I think we had just begun the war in Iraq...a bunch of folks ran the race without support (I considered doing the same until the wife exercised her veto power).

Anyway - I will keep you posted if my plans change.

Good luck in Indy on Saturday. You are going to crush it.

Bam - If you won't be there in person - be there in spirit to yank me through to the end!!
