AM - Easy 3.0 miles this morning with  two of my teenaged daughters - chatted and laughed most of the run.  Great way to start the day.

 

PM - Lunchtime run on the treadmill.   Since there are no real hills where I live in Florida, my hill workouts are primarily on the treadmill.  Total 8 miles.  2 mile warm up then did a progression where I started out at 6% grade for a mile at 8:20 pace, then "rested" at 7:30 pace for about .3 miles then 7% grade for 1.25 miles at 8:10 pace, with a "rest" at 7:20 pace for .25 miles, then 8% grade for 1.5 miles at 8 min pace - rested for a half mile then did the last mile or so at marathon race pace.  Great workout - started as a strength workout and then became more of a threshold workout.

You're a lucky man - enjoy that. When I go for a run "with" my son, he usually goes one way and I go the other. We both do about 45 minutes, but he covers 8 miles while I do 5ish. I can still take him in the 100 and 200 though!

Travis should be number 3 or 4 on the Maclay squad this year. They are preseason projected 4th, but will be gunning for a podium spot at 1A State. What school will Delaney be running for? Is this her first year running?

Delaney is in her first year at Palm Harbor University HS. Ran track last year in middle school - distance runner. She's my only one who likes to run. Oldest daughter only ran to keep fit for soccer and middle daughter is a swimmer.

Based on his increased mileage and effort this summer compared with last summer, his coach told him to expect around a minute improvement. That would put him at low 16:30s by the time the state meet rolls around. He has visions of the 16:teens, but always gets big eyes and nervous when he realizes the per mile pace for that kind of time. We'll see.

My Gator Girl was also just a "go through the paces" participant in XC and track to be sharp for soccer. Our girls made final four last year losing to Tampa Prep in the Semis. I see PHU won state!! Awesome.

Lemme bring this back to run-blogging now... You and Rob are some kinda treadmill beasties, eh? I surely am thankful for moderate winters and abundant hills here in Tally. Can't imagine doing an hour or two on a treadmill. Rock on.
