AM - out of the hotel by 5:30 am (already 90 degrees) ran up to the Arizona Grand Canal Trail again - This morning I went in the opposite direction from yesterday.  Thought about venturing onto a trail in a mountain preserve - but as I neared the preserve, as the sun was getting higher, and the temps were too, I decided to turn around and keep things easy for today.  7 miles in total.

Oh yeah - almost forgot - on Wednesday evening when I arrived, I was welcomed by a dust storm - never experienced anything like it.  Quite a spectacle.  Enough with this desert climate - heading home this morning.

PM - got back home around 7 pm - visited with the family a bit, and then went out and did a light 5 miles with 8 striders.  Much more humid here of course, but significantly cooler - and I really appreciated the moisture in the air.  I will limit my complaints of the heat here henceforth - having experienced the desert for a few days.

Oh and the run was profitable...literally.  I found $20 on the road during my run.  Score!

Are you going to come in over the century? That missed run early in the week's knocked you out a bit. I wouldn't push to get over the 100 - it's not worth getting injured over a couple of miles.

Looking forward to Sunday's final. Who do think'll win? I want Spain to win, but the Italians are hard to beat. I'm not sure...

Bam - I think I may push through for 100 - but will see what tomorrow brings.

I am keen to see Spain win and think it will be a very good match either way.

Discovered we have yet another commonality - the Nimbus trainers. Been running in them since they were Nimbus 7's. Sometimes find buy one, get one for half price locally - and if they are the outgoing model, the full price is usually significantly discounted.

I think the Nimbus are awesome. You just have to look at them and you know they'll look after your legs.

What do you wear for faster work like tempo/intervals/racing? I'm struggling to work out what's the best thing to go for.

You'll make it through the 100 - I'd drop in a cheeky little shakeout run in the evening after a longer run in the morning. The thought of having another 100+ week would be too tempting.

I noticed you've set a goal of cracking 3hrs and yet your training suggests you'll bust that up, easily. When and where are you planning to do your next marathon?

$20! I'll have my eyes fixed on the road when I go out tonight - might be able to find enough money to buy trainers:)

The last time I found money while running was a twenty on the Furman University golf course in 1985. The whole thing went to beer.

Rob - it is funny, I seem to find money when I am running rather frequently. Once found a $50. Mine went to buy ice cream from Cold Stone last night. :)

Bam - I have been using the Asics Tarthers as a racing flat, but I don't like them that much. Looking for something new myself.

My sub 3 hour goal has been ever present, but I think with this most recent build-up, I will put myself in the best position to do so this Fall. I am running in NYC in November.

That's about what I would spend it on these days as well. That or gas.

Back then we could probably get ten 12-packs of Schaeffer's for $20. Might have lasted a weekend.

Ahh the Schaeff's - I do recall that was a cheap purchase back in college - probably cheaper than water - and it was pretty close to water as I recall.
