5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

2:04:16 (1:04:54/59:22); 8:52 (9:16/8:28).  My leg(s) hurt so bad today.  Different kind of hurt from the originally "injury" (I had two huge knots in two muscles of my calf) but really sore nonetheless.    I really expected to run this whole run super slow, but somehow I still ended up speeding up the second half.  I did not look at my watch at all, so have no idea how fast last miles were, but I am pretty sure it was the only the last 2 miles or so that got into the high 7s and brought the overall pace down.  It was hot, what else is new, but it is cooling down some -- it was only 87F when I finished.  The usually dry river bed was full of water, torrents in some places ... very good to see. This means that two of the rivers are flowing well (there is one by my house that is as well) -- and that the rainfall is much better than last year, important for us in the desert, we rely on getting most of our water in about 3 months of the year.

I need to get to work on my class for tomorrow ... I am behind since I did not work yesterday (unfortunately, I did not get to nap either!).  I forgot to tell you yesterday that we saw Kyle Acorn (US steepler) at John's office, he looks much taller (and younger) in person!  Today is the Rieti trackmeet -- it is being televised this afternoon - ANOTHER world record in the 800 (after the one last Sunday) and a new American record in the 3000m by Lagat!!  Summer track is so fun!!

Hi Bonnie. Did you see that crazy weather we were having yesterday? What the hail was going on at 2 in the afternoon?

From Bonnie on Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 17:59:22 from 64.119.33.134

We headed back at about 3 and hit just about everything -- a horrible sand storm (we couldn't see any further than about 1 foot in front of us), rain (lots and lots), rainbows, sunshine and then lightening. It was interesting. We missed the hail ... thank goodness.

Sorry we couldn't stop by, we were later leaving than we had expected to be and we wanted to try to get through to Casa Grande before the worst of the storm. We (Tucson) got hit by a huge storm last night too.

How do you run 14 miles with hurting legs?
