PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (9+ hilly miles, 1:20:30).  I felt so good today!!  In part it is because it was only 76F, and in part it is because I am pretty recovered (finally).  I have decided not to run the 5K this weekend, mainly because I couldn't really keep any leg speed last week, but also just because I am plumb tuckered out.  I am now going into base mode ... my plan for the summer is to keep up my usual running routine, but put a little extra energy into my work and family life.  I am also going to start doing some core and form drills, since I will likely have a few extra hours a week (since I likely won't be working 65 hours/week or more).  Ahhhh ...

PM: (4 easy).

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Sounds like a great plan Bonnie--enjoy the no-pressure base mode and the extra time!

thanks ladies, I have high hopes for next year - and like to run just for fun a few months a year. I take my recovery time very seriously ;-).

Allie, let me know how things are going! I battled a little depression after I finished my PhD, sort of like post-marathon depression, after so many years (10!!!) and all that work, it was like "ok, now what?" And, I spent years feeling like an "imposter" (I hear it is common, feeling like someday someone was going to come and take my degree(s) away because I really wasn't smart enough for them ;-)). Even positive life changes are stressful.

bonnie, it is nice to hear that my "out of sorts" feelings are somewhat normal. i hit it double-time with a marathon and graduation in the same week, and have been in the "what now?" boat ever since. going from all to nothing, busy to not, hyper-focused to unmotivated...wow.

i have a few job interviews lined up and countless other applications and resumes in, so hopefully it won't be too long before i can start making some plans for the future.

Well, I wouldn't say I am "normal" - but it has happened to me ;-) ... (kidding, I think it is completely normal). I think you need to schedule a visit to Flagstaff in July ;-).

I'm glad you're getting a break from all that work. You deserve it.

Good to see that you will be having a bit of a break. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
