Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

59:52.  Our hotel is on the "other side" of town - actually much more populated (and some would say the "nicer" part of town -- I liken it more to more and less populated.  There certainly are more stores and resturants over here.  Anyway, I ran over to a park about 2 miles from the hotel.  The run over there was not really pleasant, mainly a sidewalk run next to a 6 lane road.  The park was ok. I was able to find a series of trails that ran around some sort of a dirt/rock facility ... maybe a dump?  Anyway -- I followed  a series of trails left by other people and their domestic animals (dogs) - there might have been some javelina around, it was certainly close enough to people (and more importantly, garbage).

I got up early and worked, so I could send some grant stuff out before the day actually started, so it was pretty warm by the time I started.  Good thing, since I forgot to pack my gloves, although I am not compeletely adverse to using socks on my hands, I was glad I didn't need them by the time I ran.

Happy Friday bloggers!

Where are you???

Happy Friday indeed! Have a great weekend after your marvelous week of running. You are such an amazing and consistent runner. I am always so impressed when I read through your training! You are one smart lady runner!!!

Kelli - you have to read her entry from yesterday to know that her water heater broke and flooded the house. So the insurance company put her up in a hotel. Poor Bonnie.

From Bonnie on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 13:21:39 from 72.254.56.171

Kelli, you are too sweet. Actually, I just am very routine oriented (I think because my job is so not routine oriented) - my office/house is disorganized, but my life is pretty organized, weird huh? Thank you for your compliment, I enjoy reading your training as well!

Burt, awww. I am not poor, I am pretty lucky. But I am pretty pissed off at the home warrantee folks -- you will see how I feel on my facebook account later today. What a rip-off. They made us wait 24 hours before they came out and then denied our claim on the hot water heater because we moved it ... we had to move the darn thing, why? So we could try to save the walls and floors in our home!!!! what were we supposed to do, wait for them and watch the house disinegrate? what a horrid group they are. Don't ever let your realtor talk you (or the seller of the house) into buying one. Instead, you should put $ in an escrow account that the buyers can use if they (buyers) need it, and at the end of the year what they don't use - you (seller) get back!! Anyway - the brand new water heater was defective and I am pretty sure my insurance company will be going after the manufacturers for some money for the damages to our house. sorry for the drawn out response, can you tell I am mad??

From Kelli on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 13:35:25 from 71.219.89.82

I saw the water heater breaking part, missed the whole hotel thing. That stinks! But at least it is the nice side of town.

Insurance companies are horrible to deal with. We had 2 floods in our last hoes (a pipe under the sink and a leaky toilet when we were out of town). It was a nightmare. The second time around we had this huge fans in our house blowing under the floor to dry it all out. It was miserable. I wish they had put us up in a hotel.

I hope things get sorted out fast and in your favor. All that warranty and insurance stuff is not fun to navigate.

From Burt on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 13:35:40 from 206.19.214.144

Ummm...yeah. And now I'm mad, too. What a bunch of jerks!

From Kelli on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 13:38:43 from 71.219.89.82

Burt, I think you should go talk to them

From Bonnie on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 14:15:05 from 128.196.228.134

Yes Burt, please do!

Kelli, the insurance company seems pretty good, so far. The water heater exploded and the water kept running ... so about 50% of our house is flooded. Right now there are 15 blowers and 2 huge dehumidifiers lain all over .. plus 4 rooms of carpet pulled up, all baseboards, etc. I am glad they did not argue when I said that there is no way I could live like that ... we can't even walk down the hallway because of all the equipment and furniture. Anyway -- small stuff in the big picture, extremely annoying when it interfers with your every day stuff!!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 14:31:19 from 24.8.167.243

What a huge pain and hassle. I hope you're able to get things dried out quickly and that the insurance company treats you well.

As for running on the sidewalk next to a 6-lane road, that's the story of my life.

Bonnie, I'm so sorry to hear you're going through all this hassle, and just at the start of the semester, ughhhh! I hope it gets sorted out soon and that the damage is not too bad! Hugs!

Very annoying, but I am glad that you stuck up for yourself and made them get you a hotel! Those blowers are loud and they make the house HOT!!!

From auntieem on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 17:44:09 from 24.17.177.218

If you hadn't moved it, they probably would have found some other reason to deny the claim! Sorry for the tough time, and glad you have the good sense to keep running.

From montelepsy on Sun, Jan 17, 2010 at 14:15:35 from 155.85.58.253

Do you just carry around a spare pair of socks or would you take the socks off your feet to keep your hands warm? When you do run with socks on your hands how do keep from singing the song that never ends?

From Burt on Sun, Jan 17, 2010 at 15:08:01 from 98.177.216.165

Ha! I was thinking the same thing, Mike. Well, about the socks, not the song.
