5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

So ...  these are supposed to be a predictor for a marathon -- but Greg says that they generally predict about 5 secs too fast ... in which case, I am looking at a 3:25.  However, my recent 1/2 marathon (probably a better predictor) predicts somewhere between 3:19 and 3:20 (depending on which calculator you use).   SO ... I guess I am realistically somewhere between 3:20 on a good day, and 3:25 on an average day ... which, would be a PR regardless.  I still have to make the 26.2 miles though, whatever the pace!

Oh, by the way, in case you were wondering, the last 5 800s of this workout were very very hard ;-)

UPDATE ... whoops, I overestimated my mileage from this morning -- the recovery laps were 600 meters, not 800, so I was just over 15 miles for the run.  Good thing I did not underestimate the 800s, I am sure about those ;-).  UPDATE 2: I feel every one of my 49 years this afternoon.  creak creak.

PM: easy easy easy 4!

Happy Thursday bloggers!

WOW, nice workout today! I think I have only ever done 8 yassos! They have predicted my marathon times pretty closely. I think you will do great, the work is in their and you have been running so well. I am so excited to see how it goes. Do they have online tracking?

From Bonnie on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 18:00:35 from 64.119.33.134

Thanks for the vote of confidence Kelli!!

I did not know until you asked (and I looked it up), but apparently there is lots of tracking during the marathon ;-) : http://www.chevronhoustonmarathon.com/Marathon/Technology.cfm

I don't have a bib number yet ... I will let you know when I know!

I hope you feel better soon ... skip the orange juice tonight (it is very acidic) -- eggs and toast with a little ginger ale (shake the bubbles out) is my family's old remedy ;-)

Nice training for the Houston. You've got @17 days till show time @ Houston.Time to get into your 3 week taper and know that you can cut that last 5 minutes off by running the tangent and simply pushing off with your toes on every step........and do not stop to drink your hydration at the aid and water stations!!!!

Yes, NO OJ for me. That was a mistake. :o)

Excited to track ya, I thought they had online tracking! I love watching marathons this way from home (although televised would be even better!)

They should keep a camera on Bonnie the whole time.

From Bonnie on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 20:51:18 from 150.135.114.118

I don't think you would like a picture of me the whole time Burt, I have a feeling it will get ugly near the end!

But thank you so much for the sentiment ... sniff sniff

Great job. I am loving the speed up at the end. It's not just the average that matters, but how the first half compares to the second half. (So true of the marathon too).

Great workout Bonnie! As Michelle said, very strong finish... not just for the last rep, but for the last FOUR! That shows (to me) that there is still something in the tank, which is very good.

super workout, bonnie. i'm glad there is runner tracking on race day -- looking forward to cyber cheering for you!

From Kelli on Fri, Dec 30, 2011 at 15:34:53 from 71.219.66.129

I think it would be awesome to watch a REAL runner for a change (not that the low 2:xx marathoners are not cool). But to see you out there would be awesome. I wonder who we could pay to follow you with a camera???

From Karen on Sat, Dec 31, 2011 at 02:08:52 from 69.171.160.95

YAY! SO excited as I actually get to see Bonnie on race day. (I will try to bring a camera for the fastrunner Bonnie fanclub!!)

GREAT workout Bonnie--looks like you are more than ready! The energy there will be so amazing that you won't be able to do anything less than wondrous!!!

From Bonnie on Sat, Dec 31, 2011 at 12:53:03 from 64.119.33.134

Karen!! That is awesome news (that you will be there). April (seeaprilrun) and SlowJoe (slowjoe) will be there too! Paul Peterson is running the trials (paul) so there will quite a few of us there!!

I will send you a message with my particulars (phone number, etc). We are getting in Friday afternoon.

So excited to meet you.

From Burt on Sat, Dec 31, 2011 at 14:25:54 from 72.223.93.131

I have Karen's phone number if you want even though she swears it's her boss's.
