Ended this last week with a couple rest days and overall a low mileage week. Looking back at my training from high school and college I think a big reason I got injured in college is I never took weeks off or really even eased up on mileage. Today I ran up to the canal road and then did 3 miles at somewhere between threshold and marathon pace (6:30s), those 3 miles were also sandwiched between 2 miles where I averaged 8:20 pace and gained 600 feet of elevation. After all of that I bombed downhill for the next 2 miles in 11:08. It was too steep to maximize the downhill but it was fun, I should avoid going down 500- there are definitely less steep ways to get down through pleasent view that are less likely to wreck my knees over time. |
