Never did a report for the best race of my life so I figured that I might as well get on that. shout out to connor when he sees this and realizes that I am gonna be back on the blog. feel free to put me back on your fav blogs list fam! Anywars,I ran in the senior race at the foorlocker west championships. Chilled in the morning with the homies, as my race was one of the last of the day. Never have felt so good before a race in my life. Me nathan spencer josh landon garrison and denzil walked over to the start line for what would be our last cross country race- a sad thought, but not that sad considering we still have track season. It was a very sunny warm morning and I was excited to start. The gun went off and the pack was off. I was able to stay in control of myself quite easily and found spencer right of the bat and stayed with him, about the half mile mark Josh ran up behind us and causally said "sup fam" lol good times. We finished the first mile together at a 5:33, right on pace. Then we went up the first hill. It was extremely hard but the pain was easily overcome as the steep uphill quickly became steep downhill. I started going down and spencer pulled ahead of me going down and across the street, but then something clicked inside of me, I still have very detailed memory of how relaxed and confident I felt. I went up to poop out hill and powered up it hard af, passed eryone on our team and for the first time in my life I was the one leading the pack in a race and paving the way. I got even more confident going around the backside of the hill and started to gap everyone and going up resivoir hill I was grinding like a champ, which turned out to be the one mistake I made in this otherwise solid race, as I was not able to go as fast as I would have liked on the biggest downhill on the course, and Nathan was able to pass me. I remember seeing Momma and Papa Heaps taking pictures at the top of the hill so I was able to make my form look nice for a few strides so I got some sick pics lol. I came down and was able to gather my energy for the last 400, and my pace was a 4:20 for that stretch, I was burning everywhere but I knew that it was my last xc race ever, so I didnt want to have any regrets. Lol reminiscing and writing about this race almost has me in tears kms. I finished in 88th place with a time of 18:23, not as fast as nxr but if I would have run the same caliber of race that I did at nxr then I would have prolly prd by a minute. Later that day, my homie connor qualified for footlocker nationals, which I was super cool to see all of his hard work pay off, he definitly earned it. we made the most of our trip that day by going to newport beach, where we hit the waves and balled up. Running XC was as good as it gets, and I wouldnt trade the friends that I made doing it for anything, best people ever hands down. #lod #lehixc #teampre
