Nice job and welcome to the blog.

You have to start easy and be gracious with yourself. You are trying to establish new habits and a new lifestyle. It takes time and commitment.

Keep it up!

Ran my first "hill" I will call this "the hill" so that in the future I can remember how hard it was to get where I hope I am just warming up to in the future

Stopped only twice that's more because I know now I won't die running around the block like I thought yesterday

Need to learn how to breath

Need to learn how to stretch

Need new shoes

Would like to know what is expected as far as distances etc when starting.  I assume I won't jump by 25% again so what should be my steps or milestones?

I am sore but I am sure tomorrow I will be real sore

It feels good to have my second run in.  I hope I keep running!  Losing the password to this blog would help me stop not planning on that but I am just saying... (:

Good job getting out again. Definitely don't increase anything very fast or you'll get injured. I would focus on taking build up slow and being consistent and getting use to a schedule. Getting fitted for shoes to match your stride is a good idea.

Great run and a lot of sweat!  It's hot out there so I am find a mountain of sorts tomorrow.  I also have a basketball invite this weekend so I wonder how that stacks up (if it's good ball for 1/1.5 hours)?

You're doing great with sticking to it. It is going to start to feel better and better for you. Of course you will have days where you absolutely hate it but overall it gets better. Doing great!

Keep it up. Don't do too much at first. I remember when 4 miles was a big deal for me. It will come, just try to enjoy it.

Didn't stop

Ran the "hill" again

I feel like this is a lot more mental so far than anything

Only fear is quiting

The pain in the legs has been real but not even close to the hard part!

It was super hot today so I ran real real late.. might need a gun if I run this late in the future JK

Great run!!! You're already seeing progress just keep with it and you will start to really enjoy it. Try going early mornings if you can...the coolness and quiet is really enjoyable.

Check out a 5 K to sign up for in a few weeks.

Thanks Curt! I appreciate you having the ability to get me started. I will try to help someone else in the future like you have.

If I run in the morning I will see all these super runners. I hate running past people with a "stride" I GOT NO STRIDE bro. (: I will do it though soon. BTW What is the proper stride and running rhythm? Can you even explain it?

Also I am still steady at 170lbs and eating like a bum. You gave me the impression diet is not part of the deal. I think I heard or understood you wrong? Is there a diet I should think about and should I even care?

From Curt on Sun, Jun 30, 2013 at 08:40:15 from 69.20.189.206

Right now I would say just run whatever feels comfortable for stride. Eventually you will worry about your foot strike and arms but for now it's hard so just get comfortable.

Diet is important. I just don't stick to die hard diets. What I do is just eat things that are making me feel better when I run. A lot of sandwiches and pastas with little greasy foods. The cleaner you eat the better you feel when running. The more I run the more I don't want certain types of foods, you'll see what I mean.

My pace was 9.4 minutes a mile, but with the days off I quit again after 2 hence a 19 minute workout

It's no longer a matter of quiting when it hurts because I have figured out it's a big mental game.  I am sure after I reach any sort of reasonable distance it will become a physical game again, but right now it's all mental including not getting out in 3-4 days!

Again I just hope I keep it up.  I was discouraged when I asked some fat kid friend in my hood if he'd like to run.  He said "sure I started running a few months ago" "I get in about 8 miles a day, but I can do better"  I thought WTF and I am not sure why!  I have little faith I will peak at any sort of respectable distance.

Good news I got out and that is awesome and it felt better than ever before... the 3 times before :)
