| Location: Salt Lake City,UT, Member Since: Dec 29, 2009 Gender: Male Goal Type: Marathon Finish Running Accomplishments: A marathon runner just trying to enjoy good health and running long. 22 years between marathon 6 & 7, raising kids. 48 marathons and counting. Average finishing time ~ 3:25. Want to keep this average above 3:30 as I continue to age deepin into my 50's. Looking for a 3:12 in SLC 2012 Short-Term Running Goals: Keep my SL Marathon time in "teens". Possibly break the teens (3:12 - 3:00). Two screws in right knee gives me a reality check on my ambitions. I don't want to sacrafice my joint for too crazy of a goal. Good health is my real goal. Long-Term Running Goals: Continue running strong into my 60's, and add to my marathon count. In 1982 I finished St. George at 2:57, 1 second behind a 60 year old. I've always wondered if I could break 3 hours when I'm in my 60's. I'd like to find out. Personal: Married 26 years. Rosalie and I have 4 children. Love running hills, especially up Millcreek Canyon. I live 3/4 mile from its base.

| Ran the Monster w/ cast. Was good just to get out and I needed some hills. Time of 55 minutes wasn't bad all things considered. | Add Comment |

| With my arm in a cast, knowing I'm going in for surgery tomorrow, I should have stretched out my run for a few miles, maybe gone 10 or 11. Stayed around the hood, up into the eastwood area | Add Comment |

| Feeling okay two days after surgery, I run the monster and do fine. Weighing myself afterwards at 173. I didn't loose any weight in the hospital, they kept me hydrated with an IV. The lortab's dry me out. My nose, mouth, and bowels are dry. I urinate often through the night, and keep drinking a lot. | Add Comment |

| I ran to the top of millcreek canyon on this nice and rather cool saturday morning, leaving home at 7:20. I feel a little weak, and think about turning around 1 mile from the top, but there was a young woman parked at Alexander Basin trailhead who took off running to the top, so I caught up and we talked a little. Time was good. I made elbow at 1:02:30, then up and back to elbow in one hour. I'm slowing down major as I run out of gas. By the next mile, I'm very dizzy and can hardly stand. I lay down on a bridge abutment and wait for Rosalie. She picks me up 10 minutes later. As soon as I'm in the kitchen, I drink straight from the Log Cabin syrup bottle, eat some pancakes, drink milk, and refuel. Then I weigh myself at 164.2. Wow. Between Friday morning and Saturday morning, I'm down 9 lbs. No wonder I felt so weak. But it was a good run, preping me for the Park City in 2 weeks. | Add Comment |
